  1. Jonathan Powell needs to look at the weather history of those two months. There is no way July 2012 and July 2013 can be comparable. For a start there is nearly 3C difference in the CET and about 65mm difference in rainfall!
  2. Nothing. Close but no cigar. What a waste all that lightning was over the Irish Sea, at least the Isle of Man got something out of it. It will be interesting to see the lightning strike map for May. You'll see lightning strikes galore over the Irish Sea and over parts of NW England, little unless it changes over the next few days.
  3. Unless that system to the south at the moment really kicks into gear and a few sferics have come out it, I can't see where the next thunderstorm is coming from.
  4. Laughable forecast by Sky News. According to their forecast, there are thunderstorms in the SW and they will push to other parts. What thunderstorms? It's bone dry there! Hopeless!
  5. Not sure about that Darren. Too often I have read convective experts saying the clag and reminants from overnight storms or MCS had restricted storm development the next day if they hang around.
  6. Well Stephen?I have heard by a few members from the Wirral area hat they had a really good storm(s).
  7. I notice that and a shelf cloud as well.I think that's it for this area. Nothing obvious in the immediate future by the radar and to be honest it would not surprise we don't get anything tomorrow as well!
  8. You could have made a similar comment last November about snow and look how that turned out! The last 4 years have been really poor for some parts for the thunder. I sort of can understand a degree of cynicism and pessimism on prospects. And even more so if you miss out in the next a couple of days!
  9. Not everyone on this side of the Pennines is getting something. I got a feeling some parts of NW England are going to miss out again.
  10. It's incredible that the Met Office have not issued one severe weather warning for Wales?! I remember when the Met Office dishing out warnings right left and centre. Has the policy changed?
  11. Can see a large cumulus congestus cell from here over central Lancashire, south of Preston by the looks of it on radar.
  12. Still no warning! Are you kidding? The instability area seems to be getting closer. I am not sure if Chris R is online but if you look at the radar, you see a shower break out just off Formby.
  13. The area from NW of London to mid-north Wales is of interest. There seems to be some development on the satellite.http://www.sat24.com/en/gb
  14. Heavy shower this morning but nothing since. After what has happened in recent years, get that nagging doubt that this area will once again miss out.
  15. I can't believe there are still no Met Office warnings out for parts of Wales. Road conditions must be terrible.
  16. Become notable now. After the shower had cleared through it was clear skies but cumulus development has been increasing and well under way.
  17. Satellite over the last hour indicates increasing cloud development inland http://www.sat24.com/en/gb
  18. What I always find baffling is that the cells are/become electrified over the sea but over land they cease to be as such. Why?
  19. Timelapse of shower that passed through this morning
