  1. Can see snow precipitating from clouds to my northwest against the western twilight sky. Some places may see a slight covering tomorrow morning depending if the showers can survive in their travels and the frequency of any showers coming in from the NE.
  2. Now 0C and -8C dewpoint. Impressive when you consider the sun hasn't even set and that there is a stiff breeze. Shows how cod the airmass flooding in now is.
  3. Manchester airport: 1C and a dewpoint of -7C Going to be a cold one tonight!
  4. Snow coming down a bit heavier and blowing around in the wind. Manchester Airport reporting light snow. It would seem conditions in the last hour or two has changed to favour sea level snow now.
  5. Very light flakes of snow in the wind. The North Sea looks more active shower wise than in the last easterly spell
  6. 7. Lol 20C at London on the 15th of March 1993 whilst -5C at New York and 20cm of snow.
  8. Doesn't seem to be trending that way because it has become notable that the radar returns in the south of our region are dying out.
  9. This webcam link was posted on TWO. A snow cover here in this part of Norfolk http://www.norfolklive.org/camera/oulton-broad.html
  10. Manchester Airport is reporting light sleet, goes for snow showers in its long TAF
  11. It's hardly moved at all, so it is almost in effect stalled now.
  12. Thanks. Out of interest, the year before on 11th March 1996, there was the threat of snowfalls as rain turned to snow from the east. unfortunately part of the forecast was cut off
  13. It got to 20C for parts of west Wales on the 11th March 1997, it may feel more like -20C on the 11th March this year!
  14. But NAO and AO are human inventions, they are just numerical values. The fact they are -ve is indicative of higher pressures at northerly latitudes, they will only go +ve when the higher pressures collapse. They only measure the degree of blocking, they don't cause the blocking.
  15. Some fantastic news, people in the southern hemisphere have been reporting that the comet has been getting progressively brighter each night as it has been approaching perihelion and is brighter than the conservative estimate predicted at its peak when it slowed down in its brightening.
  16. The frost on Monday night/Tuesday morning could be very fierce, with very cold uppers, a slight breeze. A pipe freezer even as they use to say in the old days.
  17. Just thinking about the charts that could have produce a spring like 1837. They must have been exceptional as March had a CET of 2.3C, April with a CET of 4.7C and May with a CET of 9.9C A spring CET of 5.6C
  18. Yes, during March 1931 easterly, uppers of about -14C got into the SE
  19. NAE will be coming into range for Sunday in the next couple of runs, they will give us an idea of wintry prospects.
  20. What figures are those because they are not the CET figures? Dec 1957: 4.5 Jan 1958: 3.4 Feb 1958: 4.7 Mar 1958: 3.7
