The missus' snoring woke me around 2.20am - still hot and humid - saw some flashes so hung out the window and watched the flashes in the top of the clouds from storms the went south east from me. They were slow moving and the flashes lasted well into dawn.
Still quite humid now.
Off for a rare 'day off work' evening cycle ride I think
So I decide to go cycling in what was, at the time, pretty clear skies. I get to Grafham and its a bit grey in the distance. I hear a few rumbles as I cycle through Perry and pedal on. I get to the bike shop as it starts to rain a bit then BOOOM!!! We look around the back of the shop towards Brampton and a sneaky line of storms appear. It chucks it down making the A1 a river. Luckily for me, my neighbour picks me up in his work van so I dont have to cycle through a downpour...
I dont normally look forward to the heat & humidity combo as it usually coincides with high levels of pollen that aggravates my asthma. Have had a few hospital visits during storms, one nasty visit about 10 years ago when a lot of people were admitted with severe symptoms that had not had asthma previously or for decades. This year doesnt seem so bad so I am actually looking forward to it all. Hopefully some decent night time action (storms that is)!
Its raining both cats and dogs. Not seen so much rain in one long go. Norwich was awash, dried out on the A47 within a mile of the big Sainbury's on the way towards Derham, then mayhem as I got to Abbots Ripton a couple of hours later, A good few inches of standing water on the back roads. Now its chucking it down with the rumble. Slow moving and dangerous for driving.
yay! like a good overnight summer storm last year there was a full moon giving the sky a Victorian/ Tuner look - I fell asleep before the storms arrived though.
