  1. Always reminds me of ajpoolshark somehow, think first member I seen use it on here, when he was living by me, with snow showers going all around us
  2. Not technically Arctic air, milder air was moving in from the west, can see Arctic flow now more Atlantic, turned quite mild in the west, nowadays it has to be true Arctic for snow, this chart in 90's though may have produced leading edge snow
  3. Thursday looks a raw day, but maybe better chance of sunny breaks, still feel the Atlantic will roll in Fri or Sat
  4. Expectation is for a cold Spring, mostly northerly or Easterly winds, HLB dominant, especially Apr and May, could be miserable at times, cool/wet little sun
  5. Yes, if it's going to be dull/wet/damp, let it be 11-15° as 1-5° useless, even snow will thaw with that
  6. yes, snow flurries earlier here! left a sprinkling, all gone now though, but not raining!
  7. Does seem very mild and virtually snowless for a non Atlantic winter, sure in 90's we'd have seen more snow from 12th Jan, with the setup we had, and the east may not even have warmed up
  8. not just the sun, the general temp during cold spells is warmer now, a lot of snow wasn't even in the sun
  9. Yes 2nd half definitely less snowy than 1st half, Feb even worse
  10. but my location hasn't, the only sunny day was yesterday, cloudy/drizzly mon to thurs, today and tomorrow
  11. very wishy washy, shorter as well, even when Atlantic dosen't storm through, snow tends to thaw anyway, at low levels
  12. I had some amazing events before 2000, infact most winters, now we just get occasional events
  13. Could be a lot worse, like when a lot of the UK's homes were underwater, flood misery, we could be seeing charts like this!
  14. not bad! ECM at 168, high pressure closer, less wet/less windy, than last few ECM and GFS runs
  15. January tends to be like that now! happened to me on friday 13th, Arctic air remained, full thaw
  16. disagree with last bit, Generally our winters are getting wetter and windier since 2000 approx, this year not quite as bad for storms, but still had quite a bit of rain, and very little snow
  17. Feb seems to be the month that's becoming less snowy here, Feb used to be the snowiest month of the year
  18. An example today where it's turned cold from the south! last Fri/Sat it turned milder from the north, tomorrow mild from the south and wet I think
  19. think you'll have had quite a lot! exactly the same about Nov '96, you weren't at Walton High by any chance! cos exactly same with me
  20. kinda over snow wise, but cars frosting over out there now, but models looking worrying, not a great setup with blocking high to our east, Atlantic fronts will struggle to clear the UK, potentially dumping bucket loads of rain over us, at least traditional zonality the fronts will clear through
  21. I get Lucy Martin on bbc website, take it she is okay
  22. Elevation thing I feel, but possible, expecting a wet Sunday here, nothing new there, Monday wet too
