  1. UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings. Snow in the north of the region tomorrow....could we be any more on the cusp here in Wyccy!!
  2. * 6am whastapp ping* A zillion photos of snow from my sister and her kids in Yorkshire. Lucky people!! I cry into my cornflakes and pin my hope on a single snowflake later in the week!!
  3. So lovely to see a sunset this evening but my goodness, the Thames is starting to flow high and fast - now on a flood alert between Henley and Cookham.
  4. Snow is really random, in some places on the hills it's not snowing...but here in the valley.... (that's a snowball, sorry about the blinding flash!)
  5. THUNDER!!! ?️ And apparently it's snowing in Stokenchurch (but it has it's own microclimate)
  6. Thanks for you photo and eyewitness account! Those parents are foolish as well!
  7. Hastings. Honestly, people who go out surfing in a storm and therefore put others lives as risk should be prosecuted, imo.
  8. Under that squall line now - wow it's powerful!! Watch from indoors is my advice.
  9. My kitchen timer has become obsolete since I got an Alexa, the fact that she can keep two timers running at the same time helps. My nieces just ask her things like 'Alexa - make kitten noises' and 'Alexa - sing in autotune'. 'Alexa - burglar deterrent' makes background noises to make it sould like someone is in the house when you're out.
  10. Weather warning for Saturday removed, Sunday still a yellow...description reads like it should be an amber, though!
  11. Foggy here this morning, it's rather pretty. I'm enjoying the stillness before the windy weather ahead. My modular science teacher had a massive crush on Francis Wilson, so when she got her hands on a weather documentary for schools...we ended up watching it three times in one school year!! Poor teacher ended up with the nicname 'Mrs Wilson'. This appears to be that documentary:
  12. Rare to see a uk-wide weather warning but here we are. Saturday night from 6pm, all of Sunday - wind.
  13. It's Candlemas today, I found this out on a walk today and got chatting to someone who still had their xmas decorations up. Anyway... on Twitter I found this: "If Candlemas Day be mild and gay, Go saddle your horses and buy them hay But if Candlemas Day be stormy and black, It carries the winter away on its back".
  14. First day back at the allotment - shallots are in and tomato seeds in pots. Rhubarb already 10cms high. Sunny, mild but some huge gusts.
  15. 71 mts here currently in the A40 valley. If our offer on a house is accepted, we'll be 171 which will be more interesting! Certainly get more chance of snow sticking around on the hills around here.
  16. These cold mornings have been beautiful, I'd actually forgotten what it's like to scrape the car in the morning! We have a real problem with high humidity in our flat, combo of poorly build 80's flats, being too small for to people and having no door to the outside world. But the last few days have been fantastic. I've only had to open the windows for a few minutes to watch the humidity go down from 75 to 55 which is a comfortable level. so in terms of batch cooking and housework, I've appreciated the weather this past week!
  17. Was just by the Thames in Bourne End and even though the wind was wild and the rain constant, given it's a January storm, it's astonishing how mild it is. No damage here but everyone will wake up with their neighbour's recycling bins tomorrow, and I saw a soaking fox shaking off the rain like a dog does.
  18. In the papers now: Wind rips entire roof off building in centre of Slough | Daily Mail Online WWW.DAILYMAIL.CO.UK A huge section of roofing has collapsed in the middle of Slough High Street this evening, after strong winds battered Britain throughout the day.
  19. Craving a bit of snow now ...or at least a bit of chilly weather. Sure was persisting it down an hour ago.
  20. Thames Path between Bourne End and Marlow - currently quite muddy but always a picturesque walk.
  21. Third beautiful river sunset of the xmas holidays, may have one more today before the gloom returns. So no cold weather on the horizon - but as the days get longer, will the cold get stronger is the big question. Happy 2020 for tomorrow night everyone!
  22. Hi all, hope you had a good Christmas. Although I love cold weather, I must confess I've found the very usable weather of the past few days very nice as we've been on some lovely walks in the sun without a biting wind. It's been good to get outdoors after endless rain and it was 30.c in the polytunnel yesterday afternoon! (well, you need a bit of allotment peace and quiet after visiting the relatives, doncha!) Thames still high and fast and lethal-looking. I'm a bit glum now, though as it looks like endless dark cloud until the end of the holiday - how depressing. Was hoping for a day by the sea this coming week but it's never inspiring with a load of dark, low cloud.
  23. Well that strike near the Thames yesterday afternoon caused a right stir on social media yesterday, people saying it was the loudest thunder they'd ever heard, some people thought it was a sonic boom, others say they felt the thunder underneath their feet! I was 3/4 miles away and it was loud enough to make me jump here, so it must have been a corker. Still raining here, the wet fallen leaves on sodden ground is making for it really slippery underfoot.
