Exacta weather (James Madden) Has posted on his blog saying (See Below)
'Another period of very stormy weather and potentially damaging winds is also likely to develop later in the week and into next weekend, especially in some parts to the south and west of the country. Further gusts and severe gales in excess of 70-80 mph may develop at times, with the additional risk of further disruption to the country'

Edit:He may just be right I hope there will be a real storm this time if it happens.
Well if it came from Exacta weather it has to be true then . Did you have to pay for that info?

I would be worried if it was like 87'. We had just bought out first house in Gillingham. I was woken about 5am in the morning to a loud crashing; this turned out to be our chimney coming down it was so scary and loud I was terrified. My boyfriend went out the front to check out what was happening and our front door just jammed shut and he couldn't get back in and I was left helpless watching him from inside, dodging tiles from our roof that were just crashing into car roofs etc. I was worried for my Nan who lived s nearby so drove to her house to make sure she was ok. On the way a bus shelter flew across the road and we drove around a milk float laying on its side, honestly. My Nan was fine fortunately and my house was fine as insured, but did have the fire brigade around to cover the roof with tarpaulin (silver lining). So very serious and frightening stuff! However if you are a roofer then others misery will make your fortunes!

Evening all, just come back to forum (earlier than my usual Build up to Snow) after hearing from lady in co-op there is a storm on its way! I rushed home and logged in after many months. I've had a quick look to see what the truth is, as obviously the 'truth' is only on this forum!! Can someone just clarify that the storm threat isn't just a James Madden 'Story'.

I think your call is right, as it looks currently like less rain on Sunday - do you have a village hall??
No, but I have now added to my many purchases a Gazebo (with sides).... Might have been cheaper to hire the village hall! You are so not funny!
-
Still possible it may rain Sunday:
Please don't..... I had to make a decision and out of the two days Sunday looks much better.
So much for the heatwave we were supposed to have. Even tomorrows temperature's are now being downgraded.

After the yellow warning on Met for Saturday, I could take no more! Thankfully, I have managed to move my BBQ to Sunday. Now praying for a good Sunday.

Gets better - Met have just issued a rain weather warning for Medway!

A Big thanks for all your helpful information. I'm gonna hope for the best at the moment and just keep looking at updates today, if its anything like the snow in January it might miss us completely, lol! Otherwise its the stoic English 'don't panic and carry on'...

Morning all. I would love some expert advice please. I planned to have a BBQ this Saturday with lots of family and friends coming for my sons Birthday, I've spent a fortune on garden games and lights etc etc. If I'm to believe what the BBC and Met are saying it looks like a wash out for south east Saturday. My question:- shall I hang on to see if anything changes in the forecast or shall I start sending texts now seeing if I can get everyone to change their plans and do it Sunday? Thanks for any advice.

Medway crew, how's it looking? Will i have a slippy slidy ride home?
Nothing here now, it was unbelievable on a couple of occasions this afternoon where you couldnt see a few feet infront of you with the amount of snow coming down. However, it seems to have brightened up and temp doesnt feel so cold as ealier. Roads all fine as if nothingn happened.

Actually after that really rather upsetting BBC news report last night - sheep and lambs dying in the snow and cold - I am starting to think that we have had too much of a good thing. It's fine for me in my little urban corner of West Kent to frolic in the snow but if I was a hill farmer in Cumbria...
ITV had the very sad story about the sheep and lambs in Cumbria this morning. I felt really bad as I was only waiting to see the Weather hoping for some potential of snow here. It makes you realise just what is just a bit of distruptive fun for us can probably bankrupt others.

Have you seen the latest advert from Lidl...outside furniture,BBQ stuff.... I think their buyer should have delayed the advertising a week or two LOL All I can say it will make the garden Easter egg hunt hard for the kids when they are buried under snow
Easter Egg hunt in the snow would be so brilliant, an Easter the kids wont forget.

Hoping now though that GFS/ECM are right and some milder weather is coming for Easter! We brought our oldest son his first bike for his 4th Birthday last weekend and it's been too wet/cold to take him out on it!
Apparently IF it turns milder for Easter it will be heavy rain aslo. Yuck, Soggy Easter Egg Hunt

Snowing in Rainham quite heavy, but its wet snow, laying on roof tops etc but its like slush puppy on the paths. temp -0.2

Met Office has Heavy snow all day tomorrow for Medway I'll enjoy the double snow symbols while they last, lol. from experience they change by the hour..

Was it just me on the naughty step and not aloud in for an hour?

I shouldn't get involved but I will. I think Gary only said it in jest, his sense of humour is very dry.
I agree, I did read it and thought "is he serious?" but then remembered some of his previous odd posts. Jus a bit of a minority sense of humour.

I never thought id see this thread get into such debates, where's the love gone?
-
OK thanks for that. I need to go to a place on one of the smaller roads, maybe not.
It would probably take you ages just to get there.... My neighbour has just returned from attempting his journey to work he only got 2 miles away thought better of it, turned around and it took him twice as long to get home.
-
Sorry to ask again, but Medway people are the roads drivable?
Hi, I dont know where you need to know about in Medway. Im near the big Tescos in Rainham Mark. The traffic is very slow on the main roads but the small roads are trecherous. I did get in my car to take my son to school and ended up thinking better of it. Most secondary schools are closed in Medway and half the primary.
Its also still snowing lightly and my Hubby is out in it for work and said Strood Rochester roads are bad.
