Normally over in the regional forums so would anyone mind a quick explanation of what a slider is? Hearing it a lot. Thanks.

This glow is one of the oddest weather events I've seen in person. Most people walking around town very confused in almost darkness but the colour is so vivid and all the white shop lights really stand out. Wonder what non-weather types are thinking.

I'm stuck between the SW & SE forum, people seem to be in both from around me. But if your east of the Portsmouth - London line then heavy sleet will be with you soon.
Coming down heavy here hopefully will soon turn to the proper stuff.

Have to say still feeling optimistic, the rain is here & the cold is coming. Temps are already dropping with dew points heading towards 0 west of us. No I won't be wadding through snow but at no point did I expect to be, just to see it coming down will do for now.
Shortly off for a wonder on the top of a local 280m hill & see whats brewing.

Missed out on the heavy stuff that was heading straight toward, however light snow falling may give 1cm.

Snow has got to me and decided to skirt around

Just had some snow in St Albans, started as hail then sleet then snow. Quite heavy with a slight bit of white on grass and cars. Almost stopped now.

Well as they put London the the rain/sleet line (funny that!) whatever happens they can say they were right!

+120 ECM is going it's own merry way, neither UKMO or GFS. Sadly it's not a good way.

Morning all,
Hopefully my first post will be helpful:
NOAA have released a model discussion: http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/hpcdiscussions.php?disc=pmdhmd
The summary of it seems to be that their preference is toward UKMO and ECM rather than GFS.
I'll leave it to someone with more experience to work out any further significance but it should give some hope to the doubters.

Here on the South Downs we've had nothing but rain all day. I did pop down to the coast where it was dramatic with all the wind, nasty day to be on a ferry. However temps have dropped from 8c to 1c with more PPN on the way so you never know.
I run a company supplying online ordering for restaurants in London & they've all called up today to shut their deliveries as it's snowing too much....just to rub it in
