Morning all, Not sure it if there’s a better thread for it or not but a very interesting read; An unusual Ocean anomaly is being detected in the Gulf Stream, not seen in at least 150 years, bearing importance as we face the next weather seasons WWW.SEVERE-WEATHER.EU United States and Europe are strongly influenced by Gulf Stream, where an unusually strong anomaly is being detected in the Ocean

With respect, they are only reacting to the models. If they all agree on cold one day and flip mild the next, who are they to be able to predict that? They have to use what’s in front of them and although they have much more resource than we do, they’re still guided by the models. Our little place is just very fickle for forecasting.

Yeah definitely. The sun being out today does make me start thinking toward Spring warmth, we had such a good Spring last year I hope that can be repeated, in some respects. However, like you say, I also wouldn’t mind a March 18 repeat, that gave me the most lying snow I’ve seen and we were very close to the red warning issued by the Met here!

Aptly named by Chiono I saw the other day, my ‘snow body clock’ has woken me up for a radar peek and curtain twitch and lo and behold we have a dusting Looks like we’re under the streamer so here’s hoping it continues for a while eh! Think Icon was the only model I saw to show a streamer getting close to me so well done that model.

Morning all, Happy for some of you coastal lot getting a sugar coating overnight! Some more dandruff floating around in the wind this morning but still nothing noticeable on the ground as it’s waayyy too light for that! Hoping for something unexpected to appear on the radar to give us a coating. Im still hoping for something Thursday into Friday but we’ll see.

Not that I believe that’s going to happen, however there’s talk in the SE thread of something more substantial later on today/overnight? Have the models picked up on some sort of convergence line or something? From what’s been posted I can’t see what this is based on but someone must have seen something!

My only experience of freezing rain is from March 18 in that BFTE. We had a lot of snow before hand but it ended up transitioning to freezing rain which ended up in a layer of ice on top of the snow. Was very odd, see an example below! I believe this was Storm Emma when we were just outside the red warning zone.
