  1. Snowing here!! Seems very wet and verging on sleet now and again but lovely to see.
  2. So have mine as I just thought it was going to be rain.... Met office upgrade, they must want me to go into panic mode..!!!! Edit: you can tell it’s bad for snow down here can’t you
  3. Morning all. Met office suggesting a couple hours light snowfall from 10am, turning to sleet then rain from midday. Beeb have nothing until midday and it then starting as light rain. Not got much hope for anything but it’s always nice to see some falling snow if nothing else so hopefully the Met are right, we’ll see!
  4. Heavy rain here, quite gusty too in the shower. EDIT: HEAVY SNOW WITH LARGE FLAKES!!!
  5. Can confirm a decent covering on the Blackdowns with some very light snow currently falling. Had to go and get my fix! Second photo is looking back toward the snowless Taunton area!
  6. Everything turned into an absolute ice rink now outside - frozen rain falling onto frozen surfaces... not a good mix!! Keep the photos and videos coming please everyone!! Think I’m going to have to have a gander up on the Blackdowns or Quantocks this morning......
  7. 100% it seems to be turning quite snowy at points and I think, yes this is, just carry on like this... oh it’s back to sleet. Good luck to you guys further north/east I reckon you’re all in with a good shot as we’ve been so close.
  8. Ah, you were my glimmer of hope! @Somerset Squall #uksnow report on Twitter from TA1 (north Taunton) area...
  9. Yeah must be. Curiously, Met have updated their forecast for heavy snow at 6am. Mind you, their ‘now’ icon is a heavy snow shower so ??
  10. Yes, just our luck down here! All stations on Wunderground all reporting 0C still and obviously DP’s below that, so it is rather frustrating. We are in a valley mind and I don’t think that ever helps in these marginal set ups.
  11. Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks, “what a waste of all that precipitation”! I’m encouraged by the fact Matt in Wellington had the full switch over to snow and I’m hoping it can do the same here sometime soon...
  12. It’s definitely trying, some flakes mixed in with the rain now here!
  13. Still waiting for anything to fall out the flipping sky!! Dry still, can see the ice on cars slowly reducing...
  14. I’m up for a spot of radar/lamp post watching. Nothing seems to making it to ground from the light precip that’s shown on radar. Met now showing a snow -> sleet event, so at least that’s upgraded to one snow icon!! We’ll see.
  15. Mine was showing some light snow earlier this morning, now? Mixture of sleet and heavy rain... boo!!
  16. Was my thinking, they’re all going on about how FURTHER NORTH!!! Wooo! Meanwhile I’m a little concerned about the hole in all the snow maps around Taunton/up to Weston
  17. Great news! The Met downgraded me now to sleet turning to rain....... Luckily we’ve got a day for that to change yet Meanwhile a frosty (and probably icy start, thanks for the evening showers) with mostly clear skies.
  18. Yes was just thinking that - if Ian’s on the ramp (tease) train then that’s a good sign as he doesn’t really like the colder weather from memory (or at least the disruptive side of it)
  19. Very novice myself too - always (well some of the time) like to read the mod thread but have never got into trying to learn them properly. However as far as I know, each ensemble member is fed slightly different (and therefore incorrect) starting data, which is why they then come out with widly varying solutions a lot of the time. Small changes can make a big difference! Difference between the Operationals and Control runs though, must say I don’t actually know, I’m sure someone else will be able to tell us though.
  20. Can see why the ice warning was issued, last nights rain/sleet falling onto frozen surfaces... looks like an ice rink out the front of the house!
  21. No there definitely hasn’t, I think that’s probably the worst bit considering we’ve just gone through a ‘cold spell’! Personally I was just hoping that in the colder weather we’ve had we’d pick up some scraps of snow somewhere to give us at least some falling snow or a dusting but that seems difficult in itself. Think we may have had one too, but it’s difficult to tell when you don’t have a weather station! Was your last ice day in 2018? I recall that with the snow cover there were some low minima and maximas recorded.
  22. Yep, thought it was looking very much like rain.... Wunderground still showing most stations at 0C around town... What do we need to get snow?!
