  1. Absolutely fantastic photos cobby, its bloody wild up there. I bet it was a fun night to be in the Shooters Arms.
  2. Snowing here now, only fine stuff but its coming down nicely and has put a dusting on the bin already. I'm so tired i forgot about checking the radar, just had a look and theres some nice sized echo's heading our way shortly.
  3. This is cow field over the road, i usually take the dog on here but i've been going over the back as i thought it would be better. I was shocked to see that the snow was untouched, footprints went up to the stile but none had braved it. In Dec 2010 it was up to my knees, i stepped off the stile and it was up my thighs, i tried to walk out but only got about 10 meters and it was up to my waist, it was impossible, the snow is frozen and heavy going, i could walk on the top of it for a few seconds then sank in. Up the hill theres a lot of dips and tracks so i bet in places it would almost bury me. Its eerily deep and out of bounds on foot without snow shoes. At least i was the first to christen it. https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/17971-img-20130325-172355/ https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/17968-img-20130325-172348/
  4. Walked the 3/4mile home from work in Oxspring today at 5pm and took a few pics. Where Oxspring meets Penistone on the Sheffield Road, i live 1/4mile further down. This is the path, the buried stone wall is waist height and the houses start just round the bend. https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/17963-img-20130325-170739/ https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/17969-img-20130325-170920/ https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/17965-img-20130325-170913/ Looking back towards Oxspring. https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/17970-img-20130325-171017/ https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/17966-img-20130325-171035/ Bad guttering. https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/17967-img-20130325-171300/
  5. Defo worth the trip out then, its mad how you can drive a few miles out of town and be in a completely different world. A mate sent me some pics from the back roads over the tops behind here between Oxspring and Cubley, it was the same scene, its all open fields and hills with drifts blocking the roads. The ploughs and JCB's have been opening them up today and last night. Its crazy for the end of March. Beautiful Wolf, i mean dog. Cool pics mate, thanks for sharing them with us.
  6. Thats awesome mate, no foot or body prints though so no ones braved it yet.
  7. I walked straight into that one eh Ask a stupid question get a stupid answer. Nice 1 mate, gave me right laugh L L
  8. Dumb question ALERT Whats the difference between a flurry and a shower? What is classed as a flurry?
  9. Only light but its a start, i watched the orange sky coming over from the East and the flakes fell instantly. All the gritter ploughs left the council depot 1/2mile down the road 15mins ago in a convoy, i'm watching them go up and down the top road on the hills so maybe they know something.
  10. Red sky at night, Angel Delight. Orange sky at night, IT'S CHUFFIN SNOWIIIINNNG Back of the net. Crappy METO automated forecast, i bloody love you longtime.
  11. That sounds like an adventure, hopefully the weather stays as it is for you. I'm looking East out the window over your way and i can see the orange sky approaching, hope we get a few showers. Give us a shout if you get stuck with the resizing, its pretty simple though when you get to it so you'll work it out
  12. Open the photo with Microsoft paint, click on resize then lower the percentage until its 2mb or less, you can also reduce the pixels but its much easier leaving it on percentage as it reduces the pic as it is without stretching or squashing. I thought it would be a bit crazy up there, it always is up Thurgoland, its all really open up there so the drifts can be massive, round here we have to go up on the hills and fields to see the good stuff. Glad you enjoyed it mate, look forward to seeing your pics.
  13. You're obviously not too familiar with the snow loving coldies mentality, all it takes is a sniff to get the juices flowing, even when everything says no snow, the faintest glimmer from even a semi reputable source is enough to throw any rational thinking out the window. Its no different to the coldies in the model thread who see an Easterly chance deep into FI, t240+ and it gets them all excited, even though they know it wont materialise they cant help it and it destroys them when the models taketh it away. Its a form of mental illness we have and the reason we're all on Prozac. The good thing is it keeps us on here talking away til the early hours, if we didn't hope we wouldn't be here as much, also it gives you something to rant about so we're all winning.
  14. Its been windy here today but nothing like yesterday and Friday, its not been strong enough to blow much snow, there was a bit blowing this morning on the hills but the snow pack is so icy it will take some moving. Winds picked up now again, a nasty easterly that gets through the gloves but everywhere seems too solid and icy to blow around, i walked on top of knee high snow on the hills it was that solid Luckily we hardly saw the sun today and when it did get through it was still behind thinner cloud and was soon covered over again. It was --1.2C at 7pm, its now --0.5C.
