    LOL

good pics & videos.. cant wait to see the pics of the deep snow in the NE of the region........ oh wait they didnt get any.

A fair bit of fun all round- enjoy the snow-

Its snowing here but living here at sub sea level not a chance- however moving up to the top of bluebell hill in 2014 so then it will be more of a battle!

"cant wait to see the pics of the deep snow in the NE of the region........ oh wait they didnt get any" LoL, OK, you were right about

the further South and West the better.

    You're a good sport Steve.

  2. Dont know how radar looks fine when you run it, and can clearly see the area covered is getting smaller each pass.?

I'm on MeteoRadar and it seems to be glitching to the north of us but north is irrelevant. The front has been opening up patches and

closing them through the night, it looks no different to how its been since 2am. If it opens up over the top of us and it stops snowing

    then its game over.

As it stands theres a constant stream of dark echos being fed into our area, METO still have it to mid afternoon and other

sources are showing up to this evening for our area, we shall see.

  3. I'm not even going to attempt a snowfall total as it would be inaccurate, theres no area unaffected by the wind and drifting. I should of put a

box out the back in a sheltered area and stuck the gauge in it.

Snows getting heavier now with flake size increasing, a convoy of tooled up heavy farm vehicles and JCB360's are heading into the town

center so the clean up is underway. There will be a mountain in TESCO car park after they clear this lot up, i need to go up later so

    i'll take some pics.

  4. Holy WoWzers, am snowed in, front yard is buried by a drift up to the letterbox. 2010's 48cm is safe so far but 2009 has been destroyed.

The main Sheffield Road is a single track from the plough and the path has been buried by drifts up the wall. Everythings covered with

fluffy white snow pillows sculpted by the wind, i woke up at 3:50am and the room was bright orange, looked out the window and it was

hammering it down. --1.1C and i'm going nowhere.

  5. i gots to move to penistone good.gifdrunk.gif

Get yourself over, theres so many new faces turning up in the village since house prices have dropped, theres new houses and estates being

built all around the village (small town)

I live on Sheffield Road, 2 bed stone terrace houses that fetched £110k a few tears ago are now selling for 65-70k, nice warm solid houses too.

A lot are being bought to LET as they fetch £400-£450pcm. The best thing is its a snow magnet.

  6. Thanks Machu

I hope that that road is passable, but i fear not ,but i will take the drive anyway

I can remember when two landies got stuck up there, the drifts where over the top of them next day, cannot remember what date but it was unbelievable.

I've lived over this way for 9yrs now and i've seen some awesome snow but when you listen to the locals talk about past winters it makes you realise

that this is nothing in comparison. I've seen photo albums full of pics where the snows been up to the top of the door frames and tunnels have been

dug out between the houses and the shops. Also Penistone High Street under stomach deep snow and drifts as high as houses in Thurgoland, crazy

    amounts of snow.

I'm sure theres a couple of farms down Wharncliffe woods way so the farmers might have kept the roads clear, local farmers come through here in their

tractors in the middle of the night when the roads get bad and then help out with the clearing with JCB's.

You can always park up on the main road if its bad and walk it, although i'm sure you would be walking and your daughter sat on the sledge being pulled.

  7. It's just looking like more of the same tbh, the front hasn't intensfied our area of precipitation as much as I'd thought.

So it will be hours and hours of light snow to low levels and light/moderate snow higher levels. Obviously with intermittent heavier bursts.

Cheers mate. So its going to keep feeding from the South then and not pivot at all?

Edit: Just read your post above about a possible pivot. good.gif

  8. you are 138m above me lol!,i will be heading up warncliffe tomorrow on i think it's called woodhead rd,to take daughter sledging after work,i suspect there is some good drifts up your way.

Just past Wortley at Wharncliffe Woods, it'll be fun for you over there, take a drive down the road to Thurgoland, they always get it a bit worse than we do.

There'll be some nice drifting out near the woods as its open, i bet they're thigh deep, maybe even waist deep in places.

I hope the ploughs been down Woodhead Road for you, enjoy your sledging.

  9. How high are you HC,cos everything including the main road is covered here completely, like other people have said,it's not very heavy, but at least it's not cold rain,i can live with thatsmile.png

also just had a quick check on depth on wheelie bin(3")

Its crazy that you're only 5-6miles away from here yet theres at least a foot on the wheelie bin and its been snowing constantly since 3am Fri morning.

  10. I don't know how you lot are measuring it, no such thing as level snow here tonight with that wind.

Thats why i've not bothered measuring, it wouldn't be a true gauge as everywhere you put the measure it gives a different result and obviously

the best result will be chosen as the total snowfall.

I just use a rough estimate on the wheelie bin lid for a gauge, a proper rainfall gauge is needed in these conditions.
