  1. It seems that some are saying that the Atlantic will push this block away like a feather. I ventured into the TWO MOD thread and they are wrist slashing in there. They are feeling very sad. I thought they were the sensible ones!
  2. When will people learn? The best cold spells come out of nowhere. We will have plenty of 'surprises' this February.
  3. Darn it! Will need to make a trip up to the garden centre to get fleece for the rhubarb and globe artichokes. Also concerned about my Calor gas supply for the central heating. If it gets very cold it freezes and we don't get any heating! Will need to lag the pipes and regulator.
  4. I really do hope it snows next week as my daughter is doing her GCSEs this summer and she has never had a day off due to 'bad weather'.
  5. Might be some hope then. I'm in the warning area. It's 2.1c and rain here at 75msl.
  6. Looked at the data on my weather station. No wonder it kept beeping last night. Gust of 46mph last night in a sheltered garden. The graph shows how fast it peaked.
  7. Wow! Wind is crazy now and my weather station alarm keeps going on! Not done that for years!
  8. Wind really starting to pick up now. TV ariel is creaking against the chimney stack. Wonder if it will still be there in the morning...
  9. Snow killer is its name ( if South of it), or Snow dumped to the North.
  10. Between 1.30am and 1.50am it was crazy outside. Like being in a washing machine. The thunder woke me up. Then all quiet rest of the night.
  11. The Cotswolds edge looks so tempting today. That North wind is bone chilling though. Temp has risen to 2c and snow is going slushy.
  12. Snowing now ( near Thornbury). Settling nicely. Temp now 0.9c from 1.8c an hour ago.
  13. Temp dropping steadily and dew point now 0.5c. Reports of snow in Penarth (S.Wales). Come East you snowy beast!
  14. Get back from doing the Xmas food shop at 5am and this mild weather makes it feel surreal!
  15. After the rain this morning, it started to snow at 11am. We drove up to Coaley Peak and Woodchester Mansion in Gloucestershire. It was like Narnia! Had to cut the walk through the woods short as tree branches were snapping off all around and some were quite large. Some drifts were up to our knees.
  16. Tell me about it. I'm about two miles from the snow line. Can see it from my window.
  17. Alternating between rain and snow here. Can't make its mind up! But then I am right on the 'edge' of the pink on the radar. I feel a road trip coming on later :-)
  18. I'm not far from junction 14 of the M5 and from 3am we had lots of snow and it was settling. Then I got woken up at 6.45 by heavy rain and strong winds. All the lovely snow is being washed away. Boo hoo!
  19. The BBC forecast for tomorrow shows rain at first and then the band seems to pivot near Gloucester and the precipitation turns briefly to snow in the afternoon in my area. Would be great to see some snow falling this weekend. Otherwise it will mean a quick blast up the M5 to chase the snow band lol!
  20. My daughter rang me from school ( on break) to say that the year 7s are running around the playground saying it's the 'end of the world!'
