    its not that far to leeds from here yet the differerce in weather is astonishing just shows what a difference the hills make

    seems that the south and east had it much worse than here more snow and colder,although we had a reasonable amount of snow with plenty of 4 ft drifts and bitter cold it was prob the same as 86 for snow but 86 lasted for 6 weeks had stiff east winds almost all feb unrelenting,was living at 350metre at the time can only imagine what 47 was like!!!!!!!!!!!

    march used to be a winter month most of the 80s

    was it last year i saw snowdrops early new year they are a bit later saw a few crocus trying to pake out other day think they will shrink back tomorrow

    i think its only showers no real 80s 90 or 95 blizzards but i guess you only need 50mm to cause gridlick these days when they dont use winter tyres or chains and have wider tyres on a micra than they used to put on ferraris what happened to the grippy snow cutting 145 instead of a 245

    would love to see those kind of temps but its the 7th now i guess you never knowit is northerlies now

    to get -1.1 for the month we will have to have savage night frosts for 3 weeks or very low maxima and night frosts for the entire month,december 2010 only made -0.7 cet although coldest cet in 100 years for dec,1981 beat it here making -1,only beaten by 1986 at -1.1 as the coldest month for50 years

    i dont think anyone can predict the weather in this country for more than a few days when the low pressure systems are coming from the atlantic if we have high pressure maybe a week or so for someone to say we are going to have a cold february i guess its going to happen sometime.i am saying we will have a hot and sunny july because we havnt had one since 2006,when was our last cold feb by the way?

    i believe 1995 was the last time you saw a real blizzard and the road in the valley up red brink level across 12 feet deep that winter was in another league....1979

    drove down m1 this morning took a road from halifax ,hudds,barnsley and m1.torrential rain with very strong winds between 4.00 and 6.00amdown to midlands worst i've driven in a very long time!!!!!! also saw at least 5 flashes of lightening in south yorks

    just driven back from keswick and the wind is very strong interesting what the gusts will make today.still snow on the peaks in the lake district

    love the data,i remember 1979 i was 11and we had snow under the walls well into spring probably helped by a big blizzard in the third week of march,the drifts were almost black with muck(or soot?)and left lines of black when they finally melted.1986 i remember much more clearley i worked on a farm at 360m we also had the coldest november(1985)for 60 yearshad a wintery 2 week spell around new year and almost two weeks at the end of march into the first few days of april
