  1. Which models do the NW forecast use? The forecast on there changes erratically every time I view it has shown snow on and of for weeks in my region and days which I understand from peoples views in the forum are likely for snow now seem to have a lesser chance percentage wise.

Do they use just one models and is it even worth viewing the  NW forecast?

Sorry If a bit OT but just wondered.

  2. I do feel for you Iceni - my mother is in hospital with pneumonia and heart failure 130 miles away from me here - we are up and down the motorway and the thought of snow is filling me with dread, luckily the small amount we had this morning didn't stop us getting there but reading about people getting depressed because there is not deep snow is probably not the best thing at the moment and I am trying to not look at the forums just the travel news. My thoughts are with you - it is a tough time.

  3. Bit confused here - yesterday Steve Murr was implying (sorry if I have misread his comments), that Northerly wouldn't deliver down here but several posters now saying snow event maybe even Wednesday (where my are is currently showing 10 degrees), could somebody clarify 're the effects of a Northerly as far down as the SE.

    Thanks

  4. Probably posting this in the wrong area so apologies and please move if required, not really a regional question as I am talking cross regions.

I live in Croydon but my mum is currently very unwell in Hospital in Cheltenham.Been up and down the motorway over the last couple of weeks but I am really getting worried as to whether any snow in the next couple of days would be an issue if I had to get there. Where would be the best place to look for any details (from a very practical view rather than a weather enthusiasts) sorry again if wrong place but many thanks.

  5. Hope this is not too off topic but wonder if anybody could assist. Presumably organisations like the Met have more tools to look at than the general public however presumably in the main they are looking at a lot of the same models.

On a site like this we can sometimes see that two people can look at a model and see totally different things therefore I wondered bow much human input there is to analysing the data as obviously they do not issue raw output - again sorry if off topic just curious.

  6. Have to say that I was hoping any snow would be delayed until after the weekend as we have a family event which means we will be driving from Croydon to Cheltenham and back in the same day - anyone have a clue if we are going to have issues with this - I have seen so many varying comments the last few days from model to model that I am totally confused.

    Thanks.

  7. Glad you are going to continue posting here Tamara  - there are very few people who don't let their bias show on the MOD forum which is why I think it gets so personal  - not many seem to realise it is a model discussion and if the models are reported but don't say what others want toys are thrown out of the pram whether they were correct or not .

Think this is the reason  your posts are so helpful- if you do have a bias you don't let it cloud your reporting of what you see.

I haven't been on this forum for very long but great bunch of people on this thread - think I will just stay in here in future.
