Happy new year, to all in the best forum ever. May 2024 bring you snow in abundance, and thunderstorms galore. And a prosperous, healthy rewarding year.

Anyone watching the great storm of 87, on select 5. Bringing back many memories of that spectacular, but terrifying night.

If anyone knows an email or other contact details for snowrye this message needs forwarding!
The most likely reason is that a a cookie has got corrupted on your phone and appears to the server as enormous. You need to clear the browser cookie cache. What's that in English? If you let them, many web sites will store little bits of information on your equipment - to show you are logged in, for example. These are rather cheesily called cookies. When you open the website, it asks (in the background) about your equipment at your end, and one of the classes of things it looks for is these cookies. When it asks your phone at the moment, it gets a nonsense answer back for some reason (probably because the cookie has been damaged, known as corruption) and it throws the error message you see.
The cure is to clear the bad cookie from your store on your phone. You won't know which it is, so you might as well simply remove them all. It's a good idea to do this every so often anyway. It means websites now won't know anything about you, so you'll get lots of requests to store cookies again until it all settles down.
How do you so this? Depends on your phone and the browser you are using. From your screenshot this looks like an Android. Tap on the three vertical dots on the right. On the dropdown tap on history. A list of the websites you recently visited appears and at the top it says clear browsing data... Touch this, and you'll see various options. You are interested in 'cookies and site data'. Make sure this is ticked. Tap on 'clear data' at the bottom. the phone will think for a moment before showing the history page again. Click on the cross at the top right and you should be back in the browser and it should now accept your request to visit. I'm afraid I have no other contact details for you, but someone else might and be able to get this message to you from here.
Thank you so much, I done what you said, and at the moment, it seems to have worked. Merry Christmas, and a huge thank you.

Merry Christmas all, got a bit of a problem, I'm not a techno person, I always log in on my work phone, but I can't see any of the forums, I get this message appearing and no idea what to do, I'm currently logged in on another device, but I'll be offline soon. Picture is the message I'm always getting. Any help would be great. Thank you all, and I hope you all have a great festive season

Well this time last week there was a lot of discussion about how long the cold would last for and it varied from going milder by today on some models and maybe Wednesday by others. On the whole the models have done ok I feel and even though this part of Kent didn’t see any lying snow others in the north of the U.K. did see lying snow with some in the Lake District getting a right pasting on Saturday. We are now in a period of unsettled bog standard winter weather I feel for another 10-14 days before we may see a switch back to colder weather from around 16th-18th December if the MJO switches into the colder phases as per forecasts.A big shout out to Metcast and Tamara on the teleconnections as they really explain things well on this aspect of the weather and although I don’t fully understand it all I am getting the jist of it!!
If things go according to plan we may be in with our best shot of a white Xmas for years.Indeed I can only remember falling snow on Xmas day once in my lifetime(52 years now) so we must be due another one!
I just hope the Atlantic train doesn't get up a head of steam.

Been tayters all day, but had a nice surprise when I got up, a slight covering outside, and on my car. Hopefully the 1st of many coverings of snow this winter. Hope everyone is ok

I hope the mods don't mind this but I would like to share something personal - After 8 years battling dementia, my sweet loving mum passed away last night. Her suffering is now at an end and she is at peace ❤❤❤ xxx
So sorry to read of this. Thoughts are with you

Yep. I dont suffer from S.A.D. though I know some on here do, that said I've found myself longing for a period of high pressure and some dryness and sun. I didn't think I'd ever utter these filthy words but even a Bartlett would be better than what we've had to endure for the last six weeks
Wash your mouth out at once ha ha, never mention that word again

All very subjective ,when you hit 63, and take blood thinners, 8 degrees can feel a tad nippy. As for shorts, not a chance.
I will admit, I'm 1 of those people that you see, wearing shorts when it's snowing etc

Let's hope it doesn't, Scotland east has had enough rain, and the moisture looks to be heading that way.
If there's no water vapour, they'll be no moisture, so no rain

Whenever it's really windy my pessimistic brain thinks my roof will go. Despite being a fairly well built new build. My positive brain then goes "but it's rare, even in the worse cases, only a few rooves in an area actually go."
Then you look at videos from Jersey etc and realise that we've really dodged a bullet here.Absolutely, all it needed was a shift northwards, of less than 100 miles. Definitely got away with 1.

Bit of a disappointment so far.
Apart from the low pressure...it's been a bog standard low pressure system here.
And yet if ciaràn had tracked 100 miles northwards, you'd be getting hammered right now
