  1. Well at least weve seen some sleet today haha, is it realy this bad? Posted Image

I realy dont get the BBC though, Paul Hudson just showed 7c for Monday. I thought the low was supposed to come in and slide Sunday giving us a cold week next week with potential snow? BBC having none of it it seems. Grrrr...

  2. What a rollercoaster this last few weeks has been model watching!

What do you all think of this evenings outputs? It does look promising that Feb might deliver. Some great posts in that thread from some very knowledgable people who seem to think things are finally falling into place.....

We certainly deserve some look and reward now for our long snow drought Posted Image

Peirs Corbyn also now ramping it up, so thats another good thing. His forecasts arent too bad usualy to be honest!

  3. yeah its strange with Paul, hes a known coldie and he does love snow but i think his professional head always wins through.

Rob McElwee was a legend wasnt he, i soooo miss his forecasts. His way of presenting and talking was epic, i wish he was still on!

Heres a Rob treat (although sad) his last ever forecast on the BBC:

  4. So what do you all make of the band currently inching its way accross to us?

Plenty of snow reports in the Wales and Midlands threads. Could be an extra icy start for us if it comes this way, and night time should help the snow.

Could be another surprise like that evaporative cooling snow we saw in November?

  5. Yes its been another week of being led up the garden path by the models Posted Image Yet another easterly implosion!

SO very annoying, this winter is not looking good is it. As ive said before, so much for the supposed mini ice age lol.

This is feeling like a 90s or 00s winter, and as you say, if February doesnt come to the rescue it will be a snowless winter Posted Image

  6. EPIC model runs tonight for the coldies amongst us Posted Image

Not many comments in here recently though.......

Yorkshire and Lincolnshire would definately be seeing some snow next week if we keep the outlook!

Looking forward to feeling the cold temps anyway, its been a long, wet, mild winter so far

  7. Is anyone else surprised that Paul Hudson has said that there is no sign of cold and snow on Look North tonight?

He always seems to quote GFS on twitter aswell and he should know how crap that model is, we all do on here and hes an expert!

The last few ECM runs are a lot colder than what we have now and this is for 7 days away only, not weeks or 'no sight' as he put it.

Dont get it, seems to me that by early next week we could have frosts and day temps of about 4C which will feel great and wintry. Its got to start somewhere Posted Image

  8. Im just sick of seeing the USA having super cold shot after super cold shot!! They always have a good winter guaranteed.

Sickening living in the UK sometimes!

I was hoping ppl like Peirs Corbyn, Joe Bastardie etc who were saying weve seen the end of the 90s 00s winters were right and things would be nice and cold for the next few decades but from following the model output thread these charts are a snap back in time Posted Image

  9. Horribly mild week coming up according to the week ahead forecast and the BBC website, between 7 - 10c each day Posted Image

No sign of the snowy New Year that Peirs Corbyn said on the Paul Hudson weather show either, the models are not wrong often at 3-4 days out.

You know its a poor winter when even SLAT isnt working Posted Image

  10. Hello everyone, im a long time lurker on the model thread, but I wanted to ask a question whilst its a bit quieter....

Ive just read some posts about the 'uppers' and comments along the lines of -3 and -4 arent cold enough for snow.

I keep thinking back to March when we were under -8 uppers and a lot of posters were saying as it was March and the longer days, stronger sun etc that that is exactly what we needed, but many comments were also saying 'if this was December, January we'd be OK with -2 to -4 etc so im just a bit confused.

Were obviously now at the shortest day part of the year so this seems to be the period when ud think these lower uppers would be supportive of snow?

The latest GFS showing -4 to me says snow?

Im probably missing or misunderstanding something but wanted to ask anyway Posted Image

Thank you to the regular posters who make this forum a great place to learn, i love coming in here and reading and I wish everyone a Happy Christmas Posted Image

  11. Lovely active and lively radar images at present, some very heavy rain around our region at the moment.

The strong wind is lashing it against my window, how lovely and cosy is it to hear rain hammering against the windows Posted Image

Its looking promising for a little snow i think tomorrow evening as well, with that little feature running up. Fingers crossed!!

  12. Just thought id say thank you for taking the time to put this forecast together for us Posted Image

Im quite a newbie but very eager to learn, the weather facinates me and i could follow the more technical version, it was very well explained!

Heres hoping we all see some snow to make us happy and that February option 2 is the right prediction!!

  13. yes your right, at least its going to feel cold and frost is always a nice second to snow for me Posted Image

as long as its wintry im happy lol!

I think you hit the nail on the head with 'November', as it seems a few in the model thread in particular forget that it isnt even winter yet, still plenty of time left for snow Posted Image
