  9. brrrrrrr Current temp: -2.3c here this morning and thats the lowest it went last night too. Humidity 91% Pressure 1014. Quite a nice ground frost out there this morning, lets see if can at last get my lads to wear coats today.
  10. Here's a few from my collection. 1st one is a deep red sky over Lincolnshire fields in January 2005. This photo hasn't been touched up in anyway. Quite stunning 2nd one is a picture of a Lenticular cloud over Loch Carron Easter 2005, first and last one I'm ever likely to see. OOOOPPPPSSSS just read that thay should have been from this november.....duh feel free to delete this post, having a blonde moment
  11. Raining so heavily it's coming in the conservatory very windy too, why is it on my w/ends without kids I always end up getting up early 14.0c Pressure 1010mb
  12. Top of the morning to you all. Its a stunning morning here, clear, sunny and crisp and fresh. Lot nicer than all that rain, don't mind the wind but not the rain. Was 8c when i woke up and its now 9.2c Pressure 1009
  13. Bright Blue (arrgh, very bright, blinded now) sky. 20.c and rising in last hour. Fresh S.W breeze. Very pleasant but most unseasonal, even the kids are starting to notice how warm it is. They cannot see where our supposed winter is going to come from either. Too hot in conservatory to work and too bright to see monitor.
  14. Still very warm and muggy 17.6c at 10.30pm
  15. Just let them do thier own thing and wait until next year to see what else you have lurking around in there. Looks like a nice crop of colourfull plants you have there. I would just wait and see, don't cut anything back though.
  16. 1.Spiraea Japonica "Goldflame" I have 3 in pots, yours is a nice bush I'll change that to plant eh............link for info and care. Truely stunning colours this time of year. Hence the name Gold Flame http://www.wildchicken.com/nature/garden/nature_200_090.htm
  17. Ahh yes i read that a while ago when it was posted, very funny and very apt. well done SF. cheers crimsone
  18. Right thats the 4th time I've seen this , what does it stand for please?
  19. Not only that but it was a full front page spread, continuing on page 2, very eye catching and thought provoking. When reputable spreads like the Independent start printing this stuff on a Saturday slap bang on the front page, you can bet your bottom dollar that those who had previously passed this coming winters prediction off as a media hype, may well be beginning to think a bit more serously about the implications it brings. I have to say personally, I am wondering when the panic buying of tins, water and gas heaters will start. All of you with means to heat a home with either wood/coal or calor gas will be in a damn site better position than the majority of us in our "new" gas/electric ones. Like myself and my kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Yet again I feel the press are blowing this all out of proportion and trying to create panick among the general public. However I will add that at least some of thier facts are correct. Read this and make your own mind up. there are also some other articles to be read on the links. http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/this_brit...ticle321425.ece
  21. its chuckin it down 12.7c nice not
  22. Yhis winter forecast has had me watching with a mixture of interest, excitemant and quiet honestly trepidation. Lets be serious, how many of us actually have the means to heat our houses and cook a good hot meal without the aid of Gas or Electricity? We live in a modern house at the moment with no fireplace or wood burner and I know I would worry about how I would feed and keep warm my 3 kids because if they both went off then we would be really stuck. ( But then I have the VW Camper as a last resort) I will be the first to hold up my hand and admit to being a snow ramper but to be honest, I for one am erring on the side of not really wanting the winters to revert back to the ones I remember in my younger days. Our ultra modern society just cannot cope with it.
  23. Dry and clear, some wispy high cloud. quite fresh and chilly at 3.4c
  24. Bourton-on-the-Water 8am Current Temp 3.3c (5am this morning 2.4c) Clear blue sky and sunshine, nippy but lovely and fresh.
  25. It appears that the eyewall winds are making landfall in the next 30 mins near Cameron (my 10 yr old lad called Cameron is really chuffed!!he's been up watching with me since 6am) and the Louisiana coast. 15 miles off the coast at present and moving at 12 mph, storm surge 15ft, 100 mph winds, lake charles strongest winds.
