Here in SE London it was about 12PM and the rain was surreal It was like being in a Indian Monsoon, and booming Thunder, that shuddered the ground I stood on, throughout the day we have done very well. Sadly this may be the most decent day for a while...
-
We had an absolute cracker of a Storm it was about 12pm and the rain was the most heaviest I've ever seen it, monsoon like . Even some Thunder followed by that cracking Storm we have had some very potent showers, hail stones pitch black skies. Presently bright sunshine - British weather is stunning

Afternoon All. Top notch Analysis Tamara
It is very ominous, the Radar indicates a line of Sharp Showers developing over London.

Yup it feels like a bubble is about to burst Some heavy Showers/Cells beginning to form over London, surface heating is at play, this time it seems much more prime for something to kick off. Menacing skies to my East very dark seems turbulent!Sky has been growing darker and darker across E London for the past half hour or so and still getting darker. Hard to tell from this distance what's happening on top and whether the Cu/Cb is still growing.

He has left the forum, for good, which is a shame. Good to see you back JPI realise I haven't seen Coast around for a while. Is he OK?
-
Dave I would keep your distance away from the unstable Trees
The wind is getting stronger, reports from Wales of fallen trees

Thanks all, I did thought it was too low altitude, although it was well defined, hard to tell. Cu congestus is a new one for me. I've looked it up and it is very similar looking, in appearance well saidAs a general rule, you want to see it higher in the sky and look for the anvil shape.Just typical suns out here, lovely and warm (albeit breezy), yet where there is more of the storm potential is it's cloudier.

Evening All
...........................................
Tonight
Relatively mild, cooler further inland. Between 6-10c, May speaking average.
Dry until the early hours, when a band of rain sweeps east engulfing the whole of our region
Spiralling depression, incoming from the Atlantic. Windy ol night to our West, will be breezy here as well.
...........................................
Tomorrow Saturday
Starting on a wet note, heavy persistent rain inbound for most of the day.
...........................................
Maxima for Saturday
16-18c a muggy day - note the continent starting to warm up. This bodes well for later on.
CAPE looks very limited tomorrow a bid downgrade from GFS 12z Ireland still in with a chance
Reminds me of last Winter, the chase for Cold was always on the Horizon
The forecast mentioned Thundery showers, well on that bases of ^ Looks unlikely
...........................................
(Website went extremely buggy)
Saturday Evening
Quite tight isobars, therefore some strong gusts, coast will bear the brunt of the Strong winds
Nothing damaging, but certainly windy nonetheless
^ Very reminiscent of Winter 2013/2014... Depressions galore.
...........................................
Enjoy your weekend

Well I'm glad that is fixed Paul
Not great storm wise today, although I never expected anything for the SE. Rather disappointing, but Saturday is the next shot, tomorrow is looking very wet indeed. Thunder was mentioned on the forecast.
Blustery day, the plastic cream chairs done somersaults
I'll do a roundup tonight, John must be having the time of his life! I spoke too soon it appears that Mr Pike has returned, it will still go ahead though. Last time until we get some exceptional weather. That oughts to be told.
Summer Scorcher on the GEM
Toasty uppers, would feel very humid and hot
Temperatures in the mid 20's widely, way out in FI. Let's hope the rest of the group joins in

That explains it, unfortunately I will not be doing my round up today. Going to catch some sleep. a general idea, showers will developed particulary over East England, Norwich looking the sweet spot cape 400 and Li of -2 favourable for Storms, but we need some UV light from the Sun to provide the trigger. by afternoon it will turn to sub standard showery rain. I expect nothing of note in the SE, maybe some heavy showers and turbulent skies sadly not ripe enough this time. Saturday has potential... For the wider region. More laterWe have a problem with jpeg images currently, but png and gif images should be fine

Welcome All
Frustratingly every time I try to attach a image, it spirals around then stops.
Quick solution would be appreciated.

Blanket of thick Cloud... we need surface heating, nought sunshine. After suck a promising outlook :wallbash: the cloud is breaking in the Irish Sea blinking typical why not over Land! It is too late, maybe Friday will be more considerate. We only have a short window, where the sun has a effect.

My second briefing of the upcoming days, since JP short departure from NW
...........................................
Thursday - Tomorrow
Storm potential ! reasonable CAPE over a large portion over Central England extending into the Home Counties
Peterborough may bode well, some potent storms may develop and some âš¡ï¸ May be on the cards
...........................................
Maxima for Thursday
A rather mild day, a muggy day under thick cloud
Warmer uppers surging up from the Mainland providing more favorable conditions for instability
...........................................
Precipitation
general longer spells of Rain, some of which may be on the heavy side
As we descend into the Evening the Rain will clear eastwards, EA Coastline will hug onto the last of the Rain
...........................................
Friday
Is geared to be a relatively unsettled day, Eastern England - Target zone for convective storm development, hail, thundery downpours all up for grabs Remaining Mild, temperatures in the mid teens, certainly not cool.
...........................................
I think I'll have a rest now. To conclude, here are a few shots of the dramatic looking skies overhead ATM .

Evening All.
I will do another JP style weather update, for the next few days Thursday/Friday/Saturday
Tonight hopefully before 21:00 - It will take some time, but hold on
Mr Pike needs to hop on his Bike Breezy - overcast day and a few angry showers rattled through.
-
Cheers :good:It really is a Mammoth effort, compiling all the charts together and then making it presentable a gruelling process. No wonder JP, is burnt out. I just wanted to offer a helping hand, there is much reliance on John. He is a top man, but certainly not a machine. it is just good to ease the pressure, and keep my local updated as John has always doneExcellent start, better than I could do

Overnight minima for SE/EA ranging from 6-9c no frost in sight, albeit cool
Showery rain along coastal fringes, largely dry
...........................................

Maxima for Wednesday
14-16c feeling pleasant, Towns and Cities may nudge 17/18c depending on Cloud Cover
...........................................
Wednesday Night
Similar theme to tonight cool, you will need some layers once dark
Dry and clear over our region
...........................................
Thursday - Looking unsettled
Morning
More showery rain, for southern locations - Most will dodge the PPN. It will be mostly light and patchy.
...........................................
Thursday PM
longer pulses of rain, as we approach the afternoon the rain may turn up a touch
...........................................
Thursday Maxima
Tad down on Wednesday values due to increased Cloud Cover, prohibiting warmer temperatures
...........................................

Glorious summery day 15.9c Summer is not far away, hope you are, all well.
I might try to do one of JP's summary for the next few days sometime tonight
I hope that's not a problem, and I'm by no means going to take John's place, just until he comes back

JP you fully deserve a short break away from NW, enjoy it :)Very muggy 13.5c terrible for sleeping, night all.

Evening All.
Today's weather, reflected the mood of "Regional threads - changes for Summer"
Have a nice evening, it will turn unsettled. As a front encroaches from the west.
-
Well it's good to be back, for how ever long that may be.
I was getting withdrawal symptoms Great updates JP as ever, what would we have done - without your input, it is invaluable This thread will not go out without a fight :-)
Chilly night beckons, Night all

Evening All.
It looks set to be turning much warmer, a warm southerly flow. GEM has forecasted this warm spell surprisingly well it is a model not to be glimpsed at. It may hit 25c, depending on cloud cover.
As the heat increases, so does the risk of potent outbreaks of thunderstorms
