Looks like a hail shaft, im a bit of a novice the more experienced will clarify.Tornado/Funnel Cloud maybe? I couldn't get a decent picture because I do not have a decent camera.
Spotted this first due south of my location it went behind a row of houses and then popped up there.
Thoughts?

The English have invaded lassie hope you get your snow fix - I wish I could join you, but who has the time to go all the way up north scotland is such a beautiful country, would love to go to the Cairngorms such a tranquil place. I doubt me in london, will get nothing more then cold rain - once the snow sets in, this thread will burst into life! (Possibly)Sorry for the London invasion into the scottish thread by me and Daniel, it's just that we haven't see a flake of snow all winter.

I reckon you lot will do well; with colder uppers incoming I'm sure snow will be on the agenda Goodluck!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone, make the best of what the region has to offer.
9.9c and it does feel a little chilly in the nagging wind
Edit: 8.3c and falling a sure sign of them colder uppers filtering through

Thanks for the constant simplified updates, much appreciated John
I thought there was potential for some wintriness, I got shot down, but I may have the last laugh - if only we was in January im sure snow would have been the overwhelming signal On to the weather, it was a windy day, never expected it, there were some large gusts it lightened up in the afternoon, and felt rather nice. I've had some troubles with my arm, i foolishly stumbled and caught my arm on the wardrobe, it stings although its definitely not broken. I've broken all sorts.
Looking foward to the frosty nights - and maybe some wintery precipitation

This is my first time
I'm going for 7.8c I reckon there are going to be some chilly interludes - snow on the highest hills/mountains.
above average rainfall may be on the cards, time will tell.

Rotherhithe, This is a jewel which tells you all about my area past and future ---> http://londondocklands.wordpress.com/tag/rotherhithe/Where abouts in SE London are you Daniel? Now if it was like this this morning it would have been a lovely day, unfortunately the cloud has broken too late in the day.

Cheer for that "lesson" in essence the waters (Atlantic Ocean) are part of the Gulf Stream - if there was land where the Atlantic was then it would be significantly colder - its a love/hate partnership. I would like it to be cold & snowy although it would dent our economy, and then we would all get tired and demand for cheaper electricity.I would love to experience true cold -20C being in london we're lucky to get down to -5c little pathetic. The fact that we are surrounded by water does effect our temperature variation but essentially the Gulf Stream and North Atlantic Drift modify the air from the west ( we normally get a west to east flow) to give us a temperate climate..Otherwise we might be like Canada.

Disappointingly dreary day, the cloud will not budge.
The temperature is 13c not extremely mild, the BBC tends to overdo the temps by some several degrees,
Many times we're forecasted lows of ie. 2c and it ends up much colder, does greenery have a influence?
Im right next to a Woodland and several big Parks - have a lovely day locals

This thread should be PG content only!
I dont think it will snow to that extent even if its snows in the first place is another matter...
Goodnight - I bid you adieu 9.5c with a light westerly breeze.. Sounds like a horse haha.

I consider March a wintery month, what we have been experiencing is not exactly traditional, some diversity is all im looking for. After a winter devoid of cold stuff. You cant begrudge? If we had a winter, I would be looking for something warm, however this has not been the case this winter. Little did you know im a coldie? :pIt is only expected to last for a few days and then a return to the normal regime, Little concerned over Tam - hope she is well, she did say she was in a bad state. You can keep those wintry wishes to yourself please. No snow now, it's too late, ladybirds have left my kitchen, bumble bees are out and about, I've got window sills full of seedlings and I've packed away my trapper hat and gloves in the loft.

I think during the night/early morning we will have the best chance for a wintery mix. The uppers look decent. Maybe borderline..
The lampost will not go into hibernation yet - IMO this is our best chance and perhaps last, until next winter Keep the faith - although most have deserted this winter. I reckon some might get a few suprises.

Bitter Cold Just a inkling, The UK never gets cold on this scale, does the warmer waters which surround us moderate the cold?ECMWF 12z (WMO-Essential) 850-hPa temperature + wind streams. Final 10-day outcome after 2nd Arctic blast. Brutal. pic.twitter.com/UGTCCoIoeH

Good Afternoon all
Not a nice day today, cloudy virtually all day. As seen on the bbc weather forecast, a plunge of blue is expected late into the week going into the weekend, may we scrape some snow? I've seen the models and there is a possibility. Although no widespread, laying snow. It will feel much cooler then what we've been going through so wrap up warm!
Btw: Despite the cloud its 12.1c tropical

The snow cover must have taken quite a big dent, although as ever its all about altitude.
With the colder temperatures expected, it should firm up the snowpack - and some snow would do
stunning photo's top notch!

Good evening, Been to the dentist for my 6 month check up, all is fine
Been a nice day, it is starting to drag although who can complain after the deluge of a Winter? I would just like to have some more weather into the mix - days of constant sunshine and temps from 13-18c are pleasant, but not that exciting.
Temp 11C it does feel a little chilly in the evening when the sun sets.

We've been under high pressure, little to no rainfall in quite a significant amount of time. Yes we had some exceptional rainfall but things are returning back to normal, although groundwater levels remain high. This thread will remain dead, for some time In my opinion.Wow, the Atlantic is being so stubborn this year - it just really doesn't want to let go. I really hope that deep low-pressure systems aren't the theme of Spring too, it really is getting old and beyond a joke.

Im just not a huge fan of "change" but going through it, I fully understand the reasoning behind this, but as I said threads which have had a pristine image should not also be taken guilty for others, and im sure im not the only person who does not give this new feature the green light. I will have to accept it, you've done right so far so who am I to question. Weather note its dry.Sorry, same rules for everyone I'm afraid...making exceptions to suit individuals needs simply isn't fair, or possible....
-
Paul I'm not a fan, all of us on this thread are civil and measured. I see no use for this, perhaps on the mod thread. Not here. Revert back to what we had, would be ideal
We are all a community in some sense so we should have the freedome to see who likes what ever post.

Morning,
Proper blue skies today with warm bright sunshine
12.6C going to be a warm day, is this really March? I hear out in FI there is potential for much colder weather.
I reckon winter is not done with us yet, there must be some sort of balance.. March is usually on the transition from Winter to Spring some heavy frosts would do. What ever the weather, have a nice day

Evening forum friends
A splendid day, rather strange not seeing the rain pattering against the window. The wildlife has really sprung into life I've seen many bees and all the daffodils are in flower a sure message that spring has arrived. Spring is one of my favourite seasons, during the Summer it can be like a sweat box in London. Why some like relentless heat, beats me.
Tam hope your ok - thinking of you. And all those who are going through tough times

Morning all
Not much to be done today, apart from the usual chores, oh and the south london derby. We could really do with some 3 points, going to be a tough game full of passion and prowess. it has got a little cloudier as the day has progressed, although at least its mild.
Fine day, make the most out of it

Sensational photos, really top class keep them coming
Sorry to hear about your cats, this must be a very distressing time for you. However the fond memories will never leave you, if that is a scrape of comfort - i lost my goldfish when I was 4/5 and that hit me hard, wishing you well at this hard time.
The weather, same old. Have a nice weekend.
