    happy easter :lol::lol:

White Easter more likely then a white Christmas.. I genuinely think that holds no truth especially with Easter being much latter this year, but perhaps if them charts verified we would get something?

I never really glimpsed outside today, the air was much fresher. Have a nice saturday.. Good result, today - we have a glimpse of hope, may not be significant but there is a chance we could jump ship. Enjoy your saturday :good:

  2. It was foolish to compare what we had in the 1950's to today. Nonetheless it's the worst I've seen it. But I've had a short life. East London; generally has poorer air quality this is due to our wind direction mostly from the sw which clears the pollution from west london. Into our way, today the air quality was much better - although the fresh air is not entirely here. Cynical sort of day, overcast and boring. Not remarkably warm 13.4c April is a changeable month, I wonder how the month will progress.

Have a fabulous POETS day :-)

  3. Let's hope tommorow is a improvement, starting to think that we are in 1950's London, known for the great smogs. I know we no longer use coal to heat our homes, but as the population is growing our demand for energy will grow, so we will need to burn more fossil fuels. Which will pour more pollutants in the air. I think occasions like this will get all too common. Imo little has been imposed to limit the impacts, this is obviously not good enough, and the government need to buck up their ideas.

I don't mind the occasionally smoggy day, but when it persists it's not pleasant. Today was rather muggy, and overcast not the nicest of days... I wouldn't mind some precipitation, it would disperse the bad air!! Nighty all :lazy:

To conclude, I caught a robin in flight :)

  4. Evening all

Been a hectic day at the "office" - the air quality has been quite bad in the morning, it was particulary noticeable. It had a odour, which I've not smelt before, little strange. I must say this weather is tedious.. Hazy sunshine followed by temps ranging from 14-19c there has been little to no breeze, it does feel humid especially at night. But bearable, the wind is expected to change to the SW bringing some much needed moisture, which should clear this murkiness - we need some rain or we'll end up in drought :p

  5. Afternoon all, welcome back cc to our lovely green patch down in the SE :good:

and a happy April fools It is startling how popular it is, I really cannot be bothered with it. The times I've been let down, flying penguins just to name the few. Quite a nice day in SE London - neither hot or cold my preference.

It has failed to reach 20c in IMBY, tomorrow is expected to be warmest day, I reckon we'll surpass 20c :D:)

  6. had a shower at 10.30 this morning, thats enough about my personal hygiene, which left a load of sand on my taxi and that of others, trying to explain where it came from to the other drivers was traumatic,as they thought i was telling porkies.how can little particles of sand from the sahara end up here they said, wasnt so funny when the radio mentioned it,then they thought i was clever

He said: "This has then risen to a height where the dust is transported quite quickly over Europe and the UK by high level winds. Rain then washes the dust out of the atmosphere, bringing it down in the raindrops. We then see the dust when the rain dries out – and it’s particularly noticeable on shiny surfaces, like cars.Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/03/31/sahara-rain-cars-desert-dust-pictures_n_5061617.html

  7. Happy Mother's Day

    post-19153-0-71545200-1396179218_thumb.j

Unfortunately for some their mothers are no longer with us, it is quite a emotional day for some. But take comfort of them fond, happy memories. My nan is sadly no longer here, and understandably for my mom it is a quite upsetting day, loss is a terrible thing.

But at least we all had a mom even if it was not as long as we hoped.

  8. What does it matter if you're blinded at 10pm rather than 3am? There's no more daylight, it just gets organised in a way which benefits most people. I'm seriously worried about some of the posters in here. Maybe they should live in the Arctic circle in Winter & the Antarctic in summer & leave the rest of us to carry on living our lives?

I am no recluse, I enjoy going out. But its just my preference. Im a chilled out person, when the sun is out and shinning is is inviting to go outside, but some just like being in their cosy home. Sleep should be treated as your 5 a day. Without adequate sleep your body does not function properly. This leads to a increased risk of car crashes.. The list goes on. People lead busy lifes nowadays which just highlights that this does not work in a modern society. It may work for the retired, but many are left out.Edit: Nick 1 hours makes a vast difference in terms of sleep, nighty night :lazy:
  9. Bit OTT that  wrt to champagne etc. I could argue its just as unnatural to see it dark at 4pm in December... But still, each to their own I guess. For sure, most will get about as normal, but just like some enjoy the dark (!?!?), many will enjoy the opportunities lighter evenings bring too. :)

Winter is my perfered season due to the ability to sleep and not get blinded, forget the curtains/blinds :p I believe at a certain time it should be dark and then light. This new daylight saving time is here to cause disruption. It causes congestion and all sorts. As people flock to the beaches.. It may do good for the economy, but for simple folks - it is a travesty.

  10. Will make evening socialising outdoors far more enjoyable. Perfect on warm evenings for a couple of drinks after a long days work whilst the chiminea burns and watch the sun set. Heaven.

That is true but let's be realistic do we spend all our time eating caviar and drinking champagne, outdoors? It is just a nuisance, just keep with one thing, much more convenient. It is very unatural to see light at 9pm. Far majority carry life out just like they do now.

  11. We have a 10 - Very High. It was to be expected as I'm located in Greater London, the epicentre of air pollution.

All air pollution is bad for you, even for young healthy individuals, asthma sufferers and those who has breathing problems, i would strongly discourage you to wander outside, particulary in London. I believe that one day, the air pollution will get so bad they will impose people to not travel by car unless nessecary. It is a major problem, it kills millions. More has to be done imo.

We dont want to end up like Beijing!

  12. One of the advantages of living in Cumbria , never really think about air pollution and the problems it brings !!....

You are fortunate, clean country air does you some good. I had no idea on what the pollutants in the air, have done to my body, it is a relief to get into the country. Luckily during the summer we spend a large portion of time in a place near hastings, very refreshing. The air on Tuesday is very still, little movement this is why air pollution is intensified, I'm definitely not a expect but it sounds reasonable?

  13. Exceptionally poor air quality, especially for those in densely polluted cities.

I would recommend to not go outside on Tuesday, unless it's something urgent, low air quality can be damaging for your health be vigilant, has there every been warnings on poor air quality? - It is a silent killer, which make it even more deadly.

  14. Good evening all

Been another roller coaster day at the den, unfortunately ending 2-2. After having the upper hand twice, it is rather bitter. We conceded in the last few minutes which just adds to the grief.. We step closer to the vertical drop. Sorry about my rambling.

Apart from that it was a splendid day we peaked at 18.5c, and Sunday is expected to be even more warmer,

We may nudge 20c quite easily.

Bluebreezer, you've gone through so much, I really root for you, from forum experience your a very nice person, unlike many in this world, you deserve so much more. I may not be there for you physically, but I'm thinking of you :good:

  15. Being in london we do get some potent storms meanwhile those outer london don't. I guess the is due to the Urban Heat Island which encases all of london and the surrounding areas, the added heat/moisture acts as a fuel and notches up the gear of the potency, we never do bad for storms here. But then you get potent storms popping up, up north, weather is a funny business.

Hope you're all well - stay safe, night all :lazy:
