Woke up to some surprise moderate snowfall here, left a dusting which was rather pleasant. Only the second snow shower we have had so far in this cold spell. Hopeful for some more surprises in the next couple of days with a more northerly component! Does anyone know if that trough down the spine of the country is meant to move any further east today?

Some snow showers hugging the SE Ipswich coast- will probably align towards Northern Kent - usual spots Whitstable ETC

Been keeping on an eye on those Steve, was out and about earlier and noticed some convective cloud building east of here. Looks like it's firing up a little...hoping to see them shift 15 miles west!

Just literally turned to snow here in Ipswich

Yes, a very surprising turn of events!
Very interesting!! chucking it down still! I've been struggling to get the usual radars to update past 22.15 just found this one updating, is that a streamer setting up?

What a day...and it's still going!! Had 4 inches plus here, stopped for half an hour at 10.30 but just started up again and with the largest flakes of the day! Fairly heavy too. Amazing scenes!

And there it is again........The big hole over Ipswich.
Yup! Remarkable! The durability of the Ipswich snow shield is demonstrating its one of the strongest in the uk!
Light snow here now!

Well nothing here in ipswich yet apart from the odd flake in the breeze, the snow shield is fully operational but I'm expecting that to change shortly. Looking at around 8cm over here perhaps up to 10-15cm more just north of here...surprised to see the westward extension showing its hand so quickly! gonna be an interesting show!

Nothing to report here again, yet to get any lying snow so far this cold spell. It has been pretty poor from all wind directions with NW, N and now NE failing to deliver over here in the east of the region. Seems like its been too marginal when we have precipitation and when the temps and dp's are ideal the showers all avoid here and it remains dry! You couldn't make it up!
Looks like getting HP parked over the UK next week so bring on the cold crisp weather that comes with it. Anything other than this! Little frustrating now!
