Heavy snow falling here, hardly a breath of wind.
Yeah that was a monster shower another 1cm from that one, hoping for more later
-
Had about 4cms here, which by the sounds of things is relatively good considering the rest of region got very little. Looks like showers dying off today but maybe the chance of something more tonight into tomorrow

Absolutely hammering down, W Ipswich, low visibility, everything covered very fast.
Getting interesting now! Had another humdinger just passed through and pasted everything, blizzard like at times anyone southwest of here is in for a treat!

It makes sense why the Meto have put warnings in for later - and the charts agree, not much in the way of settling snow until later. Nothing wrong with that of course.... just need to hope and pray you catch a 'streamer' or organised trough
Absolutely, I think many places will see a covering overnight. I think the issue today for settling snow isn’t ground temp or dew points but the intensity of the showers at the minute.

Underneath quite a decent sized shower on the radar but it’s not really delivering anything substantial or heavy enough to settle. Nice to look at but I’m beginning to wonder if we’re going to struggle to see anything of note until much later now
-
Light snow on and off for the past hour or here, nothing major and not settling yet just a lot of swirling in the breeze. Radar looks good out to the NE maybe things could get going this afternoon as per the MO warnings
-
Light dusting here from the last shower, although some brightness to the se. feeling quite hopeful of something more persistent later
-
Light snow now falling here in Ipswich and blowing in the wind. Lovely powdery stuff. Radar looks great and meto text forecast an upgrade from the language they were using yesterday. Going to get more interesting as the day goes on I feel!

Some flurries spotted here in Ipswich, so it begins...

Temp 0.6 DP -6.7 here in Ipswich
Everything dropping rapidly now as the real cold uppers push in, hoping for dusting overnight before things get interesting in the next few days! Game on!

A few cm’s here overnight most of the showers veered sw but was nice to see some settling snow even though it’s melting fast. Still occasional moderate bursts but it’s on its way out now. Looking forward to next week now to see what the effects of the SSW will be for our tiny part of the world

Latest radar grabs shows precip holding its intensity on land north Norfolk may see a good covering.
I agree Daniel and possibly further south too. just watching that blob north of here gain some intensity the last 30 minutes expecting a pretty heavy shower shortly. Going on what we had earlier with less of an echo should be quite beefy as it really cold out there now

Looks like a rather large area has got itself together just north of here, first signs of some intensification happening?
-
Wow just turned heavy here! Huge flakes

It the front heading east at all anymore, or just dropping south, the later is what it looks like it's doing on radar, will check sat so I can see more of it.
Everything here dropping due south now, so you guys directly south of here maybe be in for a surprise this afternoon, got some proper flakes mixed in now after a good base of graupel!
-
Everything turning white now! Still graupel but nice to see

Slightly heavier stuff here, snow/ graupel mix and it looks like the showers are merging together more now... interesting

Not the greatest i've ever seen by a long shot but there is some nice looking convection around Ipswich, blue sky filling in and some dark bases.
Agreed, definitely some convection around here with some cumulus building, fingers crossed for a few flurries

What was the large blob in Norfolk earlier and heading SSW is decaying rapidly by the look of it. I don't think it will reach reach the London area.
Agreed looks like we now waiting or the front to approach later now. Seems like the air is so dry it’s sucking the life out any precipitation at the moment
Still it looks like some people had a nice surprise this morning just goes to show the old adage of ‘get the cold in first...’ is very pertinent right now.
-
That convection looks like it’s dying as it’s travelling south, seemed like it was kicked off by some convergence of the cold dry air and some moisture ahead the front. Hopeful of seeing something later though

It’s looking really good for Kent imparticular in the next 24 hours, I think i might be bit far north (Ipswich) for anything meaningful this time but remain optimistic. Looking at the radar there seems to be rash of showers really getting going down there! All eyes on the North Sea radar now...

Looks like north Norfolk coast could do well in the first part of the evening. Been tracking those showers coming in on a NNE they seem to fading as they come inland probably due to the slack flow. Hoping for that wind direction change to more of an Easterly after midnight to drag some of that convection off the North Sea.
