  1. I am sure there is some poetic license applied with measurements throughout the land. I can confirm an accurately measured 9.5cm yesterday in Hawley, Hampshire (28 miles South west of London, 67 m asl). Still half of it left now, out of the sun. Good luck for the rest of the winter. Am often in Horsforth/Yeadon and really enjoy the micro climate up there!
  2. Down here we don't need to know what 4 inches "look" like, we have these things called rulers and other measuring devices. Probably best not to let your missus know when they finally arrive in Yorkshire. Dont want the truth getting out do we.
  3. Hawley common earlier. Finally measured 9.5 by the time it stopped
  4. Sorry, stonking in terms of what? Stonkingly average? Serious question just wondering what I am missing
  5. Well, if it does that will mean that the trough has dug down further and we will be in the colder air - so win win - maybe
  6. Strange one today in Farnborough. Temp apparently got to 0 having been negative since 4pm last night but a walk around and no ice at all. Not a single remnant of ice in any puddle. Does anyone know why this is? I seem to remember ice on the ground at 3c before. Ground temps?
  7. Great Synoptics that would undoubtedly bring snow and sub zero maxima if only it were cold on the continent. Sadly though it isn’t and that looks like it will leave us prominently cold and potentially wet
  8. You can get away with it until mid feb. 1991 saw very little melt and that was 8th onwards
  9. Still 6 weeks left for a holy grail event. Plenty of time. I am not optimistic however. My definition of holy grail: 1. 4/5 days of subzero maxima 2. at least one snow fall of over 4 inches during the period A holy grail event in my location (Reading). Can only be achieved post Feb 14th if total cloud cover for entire period and dew points remain below freezing. I still have hope, albeit limited
  10. 30cm on 21/12/2009 34cm on 5/1/2010 tilehurst, Reading 100m asl
  11. Well seeing as we are in 2019 perhaps Cambridge can exceed it this year
  12. Interesting - why don't they just use standard rounding to zero dp.
  13. No, not me sadly. Although do have 11cm.
  14. Over a foot isn’t really a bit though is it
  15. 9-11cm dependant On where it’s measured here in tilehurst Reading
  16. Well, a hedgehog crossing the road brings Reading to a standstill, so I imagine 2cm of snow will as well
