  1. Tell me about it. A coolish shower and maybe a sleeping pill may be in order.
  2. Warming up really quickly here. Seems like the weather is making everything crazy as my forecast for Friday (based on GFS 00Z) shows lightning with 0% cloud cover. :rofl:It's ok though, on Saturday I'll be having storms with nearly 100% cover.
  3. Already feeling uncomfortable here. Not looking forward to the hot nights!Just posted this in the convection thread but thought I'd pop it in here as well as it might be of interest.
  4. Not sure if this has been mentioned but BBC Weather has tweeted that from now on the 21:55 weather forecast on the news channel will be a 5 day forecast and a 6-10 day 'trend' forecast. Should be interesting given the now-casting nature of thunderstorms. I'm sure they'll be alot of hesitation/uncertainty, with reliatively brief but broad reaching comments regarding the extent of anything electrical.
  5. Not in the end! Something happened. The storm/precip was nearly clear of my area and was shifting ENE then all of a sudden it tipped it down and had more lightning. Back-building perhaps, as suggested above? One thing I do know is that I have a horrible headache now. Change in pressure I guess?
  6. Wow, I was under the white echo (from MO radar) on the 19:15 chart.EDIT: LJS22 I'm north Medway. Wainscott to be specific. We're either side of Medway.
  7. It's just started pelting it down here, with lighting to my north, east and south! Was sure it was tracking ENE.
  8. Rumbles of thunder and few nearby strikes for the Medway area but it seems the most intense is for the Hoo peninsula (A few miles north of here) which isn't particularly well populated, so there may not be any NW members from that area?
  9. Going by the met radar. The heavy precipiation it tracking just a few(!) miles north from me. Hoo/Cliffe marshes and the peninsula must be getting soaked right now,
  10. Indeed! Thunder getting louder but havent spotted any flashes as yet, nor rain.
  11. I think it may miss the Medway area? Radar shows small cell moving ENE.
  12. Harry, you must be hearing some distant rumbles. I'm in the Frinsbury area.
  13. Always good to be a bit cautious. Now it's radar watching time. REFRESH, REFRESH, REFRESH etc of this forum and the radar.
  14. Indeed. Those cells have really gained some intensity since hitting the channel. Lets hope that continues! Think I may be a tad to far west for them. Kent clipper maybe?
  15. Woken up to find it seems to be the usual places to have gotten the most lightning strikes so far this year, parts of C Southern England and Wales. Although just heard a distant rumble so fingers crossed for Medway!
  16. Quite. Although I am forgetting the couple of flashes of thunder at the end of March accompanied with this . . .
  17. Amazing westwards shift of high cape values. Annoying that I may just be too far EAST to see any storms. :fool:Central southern England and Wales has had a great year so far. I've had a few distant rumbles so far. Medway storm shield?
  18. Well, a couple of distant thunder rumbles and a 1 minute downpour and it's over. Looking south over the channel hoping I get hit with a proper storm!
  19. Nothing here yet despite some reports of thunder on this thread from Chatham.
  20. Also, yes, should get some decent pics for the Argus for the worst storm in '20 years', according to them.
  21. In reply to Alixzandra (sorry, not sure how to quote posts when using phone), was the incident you're referring to happen in November of last year? As that's exactly what happened just outside the bar I work in. Was pretty intense. Seeing some pretty sturdy and heavy beer 'garden' furniture being flung around was scary. The pods on the Brighton eye were at a completely different angle. It takes a lot to for them to close the pier though. Been there nearly 4 years and experienced some rough conditions in that time!
  22. Morning all. Been a while since I've posted on here. Takes a good storm to get me back apparently! To be honest I'am quite concerned for myself. I work on Brighton Pier and have a 6am till 3pm shift on Monday. So I'll be quite exposed being 1/3 of a mile at sea! Maybe I should say something to my boss? The last time we had strong winds was last November and some pieces of roofing got blown off. Forecast for much stronger winds on Monday than last November.
  23. LOL, how did you manage to get up there? Must have been horrible if you walked it via Elm Grove. I'm seeing 6 and a half inches? Still very impressive though!
  24. I'm near Elm Grove and yeah 8cm is about right. I can't imagine anywhere managing 8inches today in Brighton!
