  1. Shower activity has ramped up today. No coverings here but of course nice to see snow this late in the season.
  2. Shorts and t-shirt yesterday to wearing a hoody, thick coat, hat and scarf today. I was frozen and I think more than I should have been but probably due to the severe contrast to yesterdays weather. I've known some notable cold fronts but I think the drop we experienced combined with the cold wind is quite something.
  3. It feels warm, but not quite as warm as I'd expect. I think the humidity is fairly low compared to last weekend when the sun came out and it felt sticky. But a day to enjoy and crack open the BBQ.
  4. Just typical winter fare. I'm surprised it wasn't named but we don't have an amber. And impact wise most people aren't travelling around (though schools will in the morning). Anyway I'm enjoying listening to the roar outside and it's actually not raining here.
  5. I also tend to look away when there are no extremes of weather, so I'll go back in my box now. It feels raw today though with the wind and rain even if its above 0c for the first time in a while. Most patches of snow and ice have now thawed except the thickest spots.
  6. Feels more bitter today with a lack of sun. Wind is stronger too and air temp still -1c.
  7. Lovely day today walking in the country. Nice firm fields instead of the mudbath they had become, even those adjacent to the rivers that had recently flooded. Wind was raw when stopped but not too bad when walking. Sun was out most of the day and it was perfect walking weather. Down to -4c already, which is colder than Wednesday.
  8. A stunning day despite the lack of showers really, beautiful clear skies and cold and the ground was nice and hard still. Tonight, how low can we go!
  9. A much crisper feel outside tonight with the ground going hard for the first time so far during this cold spell. It does feel much more raw although the wind speeds dropped, what wind does blow about was bitter combined with the air feeling colder. A few flurries of snow in the air but looks like todays streamer has been too far north. Would be nice for another covering for tomorrow if possible!
  10. Disappointed with the lack of shower activity today meaning most of the snow has melted from overnight. Might be the last chance for a while too
  11. Lovely sunny day now but melt rate is quite high given the air temp at freezing. Unlike when we get a hard frost and the snow lingers.
  12. After what was about a 30 minute lull earlier this evening we've hit lucky again. I thought the radar was showing things to fizzle out but the narrow stream is now positioned over us instead. It's not adding much in terms of depth but lovely to watch.
  13. Yes its not especially heavy but it has put down a bit more of a layer especially on the roads.
  14. Winds are much lighter tonight which is why the showers have died out I think and means the wind chill is less brutal than last night.
  15. Looks like Solihull is now under the streamer as it has shifted West slightly. A nice covering now, but very polystyrene due to the dryness so no good for balls!
  16. We seem to be right on the edge of the streamer over Cov/Leamington/Warwick. Not sure if anyone there has reports on how its going? A subtle shift in wind would be nice!
  17. The latest shower is having more impact and is settling much more easily. It'll be nice to have a base layer ahead of tonight if it continues. The radar has been so patchy today thats it is hard to tell what is hitting you and isn't.
  18. Flurries but the showers keep dying before they arrive here which is frustrating. Just wanted a base layer that'll be around for the week!
  19. This lot seems to be shifting quite far west, will it make it to the Midlands?
  20. Snow blowing in the air and the wind when it whips up is brutal. Much colder feel than earlier today.
  21. We just had a short shower of graupel which was interesting to watch as it bounced off the roofs.
  22. We had sleet which has turned to snow but it doesn't seem to be settling what so ever, however its another day on the count of 'falling snow' either way. It'd be lovely to have a small base layer by morning as this could stick around for some time, so fingers crossed!
