debating whether or not to even start praying, wishing, begging for snow this year after the trauma of last years
-
Nooooooooooooooooooooo..I love your optimistic postsI'm on the brink of giving up on january bringing anything wintry, so that would be 66 percent of winter gone without any winter. There is not one crumb of comfort from the latest met office outlook, just more of the same autumnal wind and rain with snow on the scottish mountains if they are lucky. I have lost all my enthusiasm. :-(

I know what you mean however if I didn't know it was coming I wouldn't be able to set my alarm to watch it fall which I also love. It's magical for sure, wouldn't it be more magical though if it just appeared unexpectedly, as a great surprise, a gift from the blue? If the models show snow and it snows then you expected it already, and it doesn't snow you're dissapointed. If you don't know what's going to happen; if it doesn't snow there's no disapointment and if it does it's a great surprise.

I know what you mean, I rarely look at the weather apart from during the winter. I think its because its so rare to have a decent snowfall it becomes exciting. Like the search for the holy grail, and there is nothing more magical than stepping out in the night when it has snowed, there is a different kind of quiet and a lovely glow to the world. Why wouldn't you search for that :-)A wee philosophical musing, why do people 'hunt' for weather, such as cold and snow, as if it were some kind of quarry? You have some control over hunting a quarry but none over the weather. If it's going to snow it's going to snow, if it's not then it's not, whether you look at the charts and hunt for it or not makes no difference at all. So why do people do it? Not having a dig at anyone, I do it myself, just interested why... us humans are strange.

It is certainly not mild today! I have just driven through rain turning to hail turning to sleet and then wet snow. Some people have a strange definition of the word mild on here.

Good news, snow chasing/watching/loving has got to be one of the most frustrating hobbies known to man. The charts tempt you with it and then snatch it away and this year has been the worst for it.

Normally a snow geek but this storm is making me quite excited. Can basically write off this weekend as I will be glued to this forum. (Apart from panic buying of course;-))
So all you clever people out there put me out my misery, will the West Midlands be in the firing line?

Definitely need to split these threads. You lucky West Midlands lot are making many in the East Midlands feel pretty miserable
If it makes you feel any better my road resembles a slush puppy

It's snowing quite well but just mush here not settling at all well

Is nobody paying any attention to what has been forecast all along from the MetO and BBC?
Stalling and pivoting throughout the evening and becoming lighter and more patchy.
Absolutely spot on.
Well to be honest they aren't always right are they, it just seems they might be today.. So while I take notice I don't take it as gospel

I thought the precipitation would last until 12.. Looks to be finishing soon
