  1. Come up the road.... It's still snowing in Rochester. Quite light at the moment
  2. I really wish the woman on the BBC would stop saying the snow is not going to settle until this eve. My son's taxi has just rang to say his car was sliding over the road and its not safe to drive (he goes to a soecial needs school...im not lazy!!) but because of the BBC forecast ive sent my daughter off to college on the bus. Worried now
  3. Loads of snow blowing about here and a nice covering on roads and pavements. It's gathering on cars then gusts of wind are blowing it off again.... Looks like it going to be an exciting day
  4. I'm not sure what it is about Lordswood, it always seems to snow better there than surrounding areas and it seems to last longer too... It's a mystery!!
  5. I can't make out the UK coast line on that... Is it me or the mothers day vino??! Just read the last bit of your post.... Definitely the Mother's Day vino
  6. Me too!!! May be a silly question but do you know of a link to a local weather station so I can keep an eye on temp and dew points?
  7. A couple of heavy snow symbols popping up on the met office app now starting at 9 tonight until 3 am and light snow either side of them.... They do have a habit of disappearing though!!
  8. Morning all! I'm off to be pampered by my children today but thought I'd re-post this from the mod thread first. P.s congratulations Steve and thank you for your informative posts I think great caution still required re developments tomorrow. Firstly, the northern bounds of the dynamic snowfall in south remain rather flux in latest EPS, with variation between MOGREPS-R & MOGREPS-G; equally with EC. Whilst consensus is stronger to take worst conditions further south across France (and Channel Islands), there remains a 10-20% PROB of a severe event in parts of SW & S England, but for now we cater for 5-10cm Dartmoor & other SW Peninsula uplands; 5cm some other uplands of S coastal districts of England. Perhaps of even greater concern - given better continuity in story - is situation in E areas and SE, where winter CB's, generated across SST of 4C and with tops to -30C, have real potential to deliver locally troublesome accumulations. This will be heavily reliant on focussing such as topographically through Thames Estuary. In short, any downplay of current prognosis should be viewed with due caution until we see detail unfolding. Hopefully this will be a non-event and disruption avoided, but it's a real weather roulette with high stakes despite low probability.
  9. So, little to add currently from UKMO chief. The most rainfall equivalent generated in latest NAE for Monday is 4mm in S Devon; 2mm or less elsewhere in S England; much higher totals N France. Latest EC has v similar amounts. So on face value a non-event BUT chief cautions how "....we must be mIndful how all ingredients remain... of a severe event with blizzards (etc)..."; this more serious outcome currently given a 10-20% PROB based on all available output as of now. (He also then details possible more serious ramifications in SE from this, plus mechanisms that could create heavier falls here, e.g. Kent). Edited by fergieweather, A minute ago. 10. I take it this is having a strange moment with snow amounts and we aren't expecting quite that much??!
  11. Morning all, I'm soooooo confused! Last night it was game on for most of us then this morning it was looking good for SW areas of our region, now it's Kent??? I'm not keeping up at all!! Are these different fronts on different days or is the main southerly one moving about?! (Not a very good technical description I know so please excuse my ignorance!!)
  12. Morning all I've tried not to tell the family about this upcoming weather as I didn't want to jinx it, but it's getting really hard to keep this in now!!! Exciting stuff on the horizon...... hopefully. It's a bit miserable out there this morning. I thought it was frost at first then realised its just drizzly foggy murk. Happy Friday SE-ers and fingers crossed for a memorable few days ahead
  13. Happy birthday Bjaykent! I've not posted for a while but still been reading posts.... I Gave up smoking last Sunday and I've been a grumpy nightmare so thought I'd keep myself to myself. (although my family haven't had that pleasure!) What a lovely day weather-wise. The sun has been shining and it's really cheered me up! We've also booked our summer holiday so Looking forward to some heat now.... Not sure that's going to happen just yet by the looks of things!
  14. Errrrm if that's Steve McGowan..... I know that loonatic! He's actually a very calm and lovely person to chat with but has this crazy alter-ego live artist type thing going on. All my lovely snow has melted now but it's still very cold out there. Are we expecting anymore later on?
  15. Blimey!!! Got a covering of polystyrene here and can honestly say that is a sentence I have never used before tonight but describes it perfectly Maybe visiting Maidstone tomorrow by the looks of things!
  16. How do you do those smilies?! I've only got and that's about as fun as watching the 2 per min snow grains falling that I've got here!
  17. I hope so Steve. It's been snowing very lightly here on and off and I was wondering why the ppn seems to be going over us but not coming down very much?
  18. Yes the Met Office app giveth but then taketh away! It's been doing this all day for Rochester and Chatham too. Hope it makes its mind up soon!
