At least another couple hours of moderate/heavy snow to come, looking at radar. Seems to be intensifying and building out of Oxford area
Sure is lol - it just keeps coming!

Dont really understand the Meto amber warning currently. Heaviest snow risk seems to be to the west between Newbury and Bristol.
Went out earlier - already covered footprints, it is coming down strongly and radar is not reflecting this?

Anything in Oxford yet? Lived there for 4 years but now residing in Gibraltar I miss the UK and the snow though I told my uncle who lives in Oxfordshire to expect 5-10cm of snow tonight. Hope I don't end up with egg on my face!!
The words egg and oh...........doh!

Good luck all this evening.
Damn shame it started as rain as it pelted down (temp 4.5C at about 4pm) Temp dropped to 2C in about 30 minutes turning to heavy snow. Nothing settled sadly and has been very light for the last hour or so. Hoping Thursday is a better event!
Take care with travelling around in the morning - gonna be damn icy!

Tuesdays runner is turning into a diver which has more chance of affecting the french rather than English riviera !
Anyway, that Tuesday trough is getting a bit narrower by the run!
...........hopefully the LP for Thursday can move a little further south too then

It's snow joke! Or is it our snow angel?

If I lived north of the midlands with some elevation, I’d be pretty excited about my projects for snowman building ......
for the rest of us, rather more tricky but certainly well in the raffle and funnily enough, with uppers becoming less low perhaps a better chance of snowfall as week two progresses .....
It's in the bag then!

Yes and with all the talk about snow on Northern hills. This type of set up would favour The NE/E and SE/S as well as most central regions pretty confident The cold zonality talk will be banished and replaced by a bitter Easterly by months end should the ECM and other models start showing charts as good as these
Take it with a pinch of salt or grit, but you get the idea (from near the end of the ECM run 12z)

GFS P whilst slightly different to UKMO is very cold out to 180-
-8c air in a flat stationary high = very cold surface temps
Should be a great second half coming up on this one too

We have the gap opening up now to the nw at T228 hrs .
The high should escape nw now .

Cold weather has "popped up" today. Highest temp today was 4c (my locality). Cold for next few days with temps below freezing over next few nights.
The thread should really be called 'Hunt for snow!'

You forgot the bit about the sinking high which wasn't shown by the graphics.
GFS beginning to follow ECMs lead in keeping the high in control. The exact place where the high ends up will decide whether we get a cold blast or mild air over the top.
Has the GFS not kept the limpet HP over us for all eternity in some runs already? eg the earlier run today for example!

Just for reference what area are you referring to as the GFS doesnt model any area better than the Euros blended
In this scenario the NOAA write the GFS off saying its
totoo far East - so your betting on the heavy underdog...
