Ok, busy time coming up, and it's going to take an effort from the whole community to keep everything running smoothly:
- Please stay on topic and just keep to discussing the models in this thread. For more general chat, please use the winter chat thread, the moans and ramps thread, or the regional threads for localised weather discusssions.
- Please keep twitter style trolling and nonsense to twitter - don't bring it to the community
- Please report posts you think break the forum guidelines
- Please don't respond to iffy posts in thread
- Please enjoy the thread, the ups and downs and the drama - but please keep the real melodrama, toys out of prams and mega ramps to the moans and ramps threads.
Thank you and happy model watching!

Ill private message as my reply was removed
No it wasn't

Strange, thanks for reporting. I'll get it raised as a potential bug for us to look at in the new year

I don't know what's going on with it tbh. I gather there's been some sort of ddos on invision's systems today, so I suspect it's related to that. I've not had any direct communication about it from them yet, but have raised a ticket.
We'll be reviewing the hosting of the community in the new year.

We have a fresh thread here, and it would be nice if everyone could make the effort to keep their posts model related.
For general chat, moans etc, please use the winter thread

Just seems odd as it would be hugely informative to so many in this country. Think the Doppler networks been in play since about 2018?
Yeah, I must admit I expected them to have made something available before now. I think ultimately it's a commercial viability thing. It would be quite niche without much of a market, so they probably don't see a route to recouping whatever it may cost them to package it up, process it, disseminate it etc.

Locking this one now, as it's a bit long. New thread:

Anyone know why the metoffice never ever releases Doppler imagery.
They don't have any public or commercial offerings for doppler based stuff. We ask every year!

Lots of power problems in the highlands, which I suspect will be the issue with the webcams. Cairngorm mountain, as an example, is closed entirely today due to a lack of electricity.

We update them periodically. We did add a few new ones in November, but your one can't have been included if it's still not showing. We're scheduled to do a fairly sizeable postcode database change and update in the new year, which will involve a full refresh, so it shouldn't be too long before your new one is available.

Just look at the gfs essembles, In my opinion, they highlight perfectly where Most of Europe is headed!
There's no getting away from the fact most of Europe and Russia is about to head into the freezer during January. Averaging -5 850s West Yorkshire in time, Oslo, Moscow off the charts cold and a noticeable dip too even for Madrid and Rome. Only one piece of the Jigsaw but you can clearly see the trend to cold is overwhelming. Just how long will it take to reach the UK that is the question..
I've sorted the scale on those for the next run!

It has been, as it was very hard to distinguish between it and the hail colour (we recently improved the hail algorithm, so it's showing more often). You can open up the scale by clicking the icon bottom right. The freezing rain colour is somewhat darker.

We have a white Christmas, first since moving up here.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Just wanted to pop in between meal prep and present opening to wish everyone a merry Christmas.
Thought I'd leave this too - despite some talk about the 'consistency' from the ECM, the ensembles (as they often do) paint a more nuanced picture. Potentially (but not definitely!) interesting times ahead.

Zooming in closer to the storm on the 15z UKV later next week, it's definitely one to watch, with coastal gusts closing in on 90mph. Details are bound to change though.

I think it may be ISP / Network related as the vast majority seem to be having no issues, lots of posts etc.

Not really sure on the cause if it's device specific. Have you tried clearing your browser cache/cookies?
-
When you say down, does it display a message?

It looks like (fingers crossed, touch wood etc etc etc) the issues on here have been resolved. Apologies that it took so long - I think it was a tough one for Invision to pin down initially, and then the fix for it all is/was complex too.
They got us there in the end though, and hopefully that'll be the last of it!
Please shout if you do encounter any more issues though.

There's no plan to bring that back for the moment at least, I'm afraid.
