  1. The problem has been resolved now, so the highlights thread is back up and running again, and those posts with enough insightful reactions will be copied over into it automatically.
  2. Due to technical issues, the model highlights thread system isn't currently working unfortunately. So, for the time being 'insightful' posts won't be copied over.
  3. Yep, is messy right now, to say the least. I think Invision are on and looking at it as I type, so with a bit of luck...
  4. Please can we keep this thread to issues around slow speeds and the forum being unavailable. If you have another type of problem, feel free to start a thread.
  5. Well this is grim - the database errors are back this evening. Invision have been informed, so hopefully it'll be sorted shortly.
  6. An update just went live on the viewer - Arome and Arpege are now available, with a handful of params to start with. We've also improved the gridded number displays, for improved performance and to tighten up the zoom on them as you zoom in, for more detail
  7. We've set up some additional monitoring of the speed and uptime of the community, which picked up the slowness and odd error overnight. So we'll be able to pass the info over to Invision as evidence of the issues if it's ongoing. That may hopefully encourage them to look a bit more closely at things.
  8. Apparently there has been a database problem over the last few days, which has now been resolved. So, hopefully things will run more smoothly now. Please continue to post in here if you see any more errors or experience slow speeds, though
  9. Clearing your cookies should solve that @noel
  10. I've put a notice up - if you've seen errors or have found the community slow on regular occasions of late, please let us know in here.
  11. That's unrelated and sounds like a corrupt cookie or similar - if you clear your cookies and cache it should it that out.
  12. We have a ticket in with Invision about this. Getting them to investigate when they don't see it happening themselves is proving a challenge unfortunately, which is very frustrating. But, we'll get to the bottom of it one way or the other - even if that means moving back to hosting the community on our own servers again, rather than using their managed service.
  13. As I said above, we're testing it for a bit. It's been switched on for 48 hours, so not enough time to gauge how it's used, gather feedback etc. For what it's worth, the sidebar is on as default on this forum software, with many communities using it without too many issues. So, although it's different to what we're used to using on here, it's tried and tested so to speak. As it stands there's no option available to allow individual users to switch it on and off, it's a global setting.
  14. I think it would need more nuance than that. For instance at the moment, with the rain we've had already, impacts of further rain are magnified, so they're going to warn about that for lower accumulations than usual at this time of year.
  15. It's something we're testing at the moment, for a few reasons. One is readability, as narrowing the text can help with that. Another is utilising the sidebar space, which will may become particularly useful in an upcoming release of the community. Obviously, we'll be taking feedback on board as we test.
  16. That genuinely makes no sense, and I think deep down you must know it. If during severe weather less people are out and about, clearly less will get hurt or killed. It's not a new or unusual concept, and frankly is just common sense, which I see you've been preaching elsewhere in the thread, so....
  17. A more technical, in depth look at what's happening with storm Ciaran, by @Nick F Storm Ciaran - synoptic analysis of a powerful storm that could bring 100mph wind gusts WWW.NETWEATHER.TV A synoptic analysis looking at how Storm Ciaran has undergone explosive cyclogenesis today and will move in across SW England in the early hours of Thursday, bringing severe gales or storm force winds to NW France...
  18. Nice bit of snow on the Cairngorms today. And a dry sunny day too, will mark it in the diary!
  19. It's not 200, its second on the 'pink' part of the scale. If you select 'clickable map' from the overlay menu and click the map, you can view the actual figures.
  20. Can we keep to the topic in here please, that is to discuss storm babet and its impacts. The arguing over what can and can't be posted in here needs to stop.
  21. It's potentially a lot more than that - average monthly rainfall for eastern Scotland in October is 128mm approx.
  22. Some mind blowing and extremely concerning (radar estimated) rainfall totals in eastern Scotland. 254mm northwest of Stonehaven. Didn't expect to see the day where our 24 hour accumulation scale gets maxed out at over 250mm...
  23. Hi Mark, they're definitely still on the roadmap, albeit pushed back a bit with other projects taking precedence so far this year.
  24. Just picked a wet spot on the radar in Eastern Scotland, the radar estimatedc rainfall total over the last 24 hours is 168mm, with the vast majority in the last 12 hours. To put some context around this, the average October monthly rainfall in this part of the country is around 130mm
