  1. fairly sure our climate is becoming more and more monotonous with smaller diurnal ranges 10c in December 10c in January 10c In February 10c in May 10c in June 10c in Auguist
  2. Absolutely horrific start to Winter here, can only think December 2013 was anything as bad / worse looks very similar tbh constant gales and storms - completely mild and frost free in fact worse this year are the minimum temperatures - barely getting below 10c on multiple nights
  3. I know its only 2 days in, but already had 12 and 13c highs minimum last night was 10.7c next few days continues double figure maximums and ghastly high minimums, indeed bbc shows the lowest minimum over the next 10 days to be 4c !! appalling sw'ly storms on friday and saturday and i imagine after a week it will be running as one of the mildest Decembers on record for around here seems to have the set up of a frostless, stormfest And how many times is an expected mid month pattern change gradually put back until the new year!?
  4. rain turned from moderate to heavy in last hour approaching 20mm mark
  5. 1-10 June 2015 mean here 10.7 1-10 Nov 2015 mean here 10.6c even better is 1-10 May mean 8.4c - whole month mean 9.1c
  6. Much much better day some sun and bubbly cloud, typical of a Lake District summers day, calm and humid with temps reaching an average 19c. Warm enough to sit out and a nice sunny afternoon and evening. An average sunnyish day is really pleasant at this time of the year, shame this summer has had such a lack of them in these parts
  7. another horrid spell of weather in this ever increasingly despicable summer. strong gusty winds all day making it feel like November or December temperatures very supressed apart from a brief spell of sunshine where it climbed to a limp 1c below average, then quickly plummeted to well below average again
  8. warmest temperature since 16th July occurred overnight with 19c, then after 5am the temperature plummeted to 16c unsurprisingly. luckily today has turned out sunny and reached 19c again, so the first average day for a long long time
  9. August already following May, June and July with mean maximum 2c below average. Its only going to get worse. Possibly the first summer in years where June, July and August are all awfully below average, without a false summer in the spring (2007,2008,2011,2012) to have partly made up for it.
  10. The May - July mean maximum temperature for 2015 is actually 0.1c below the average May mean maximum here i cant imagine that has ever happened before. July is now a -1.0c anomaly and is the second biggest negetive month of this year, with every month below average still.
  11. actually reached 13.5c here so no record, though other parts of Cumbria managed 11-12c maximums not the coldest, but certainly up there with the worst
  12. Coldest ever in this area in recent times was 12.4c in 1988 today the bbc is showing it to get no higher than 11c. This month has also had both the warmest and coldest July night in my records (since 2010). Is anywhere else risking their coldest day on record?
  13. looks like one of the coldest July days on record here for Tuesday with a high of 12c forecast 12c is the average minimum temperature for July so pretty astonishing. there has been the odd 13c-14c maximum in the absolute shockers like July 2012 and 2008, but nothing at all like this. 1993 had a 13.3c maximum, 1988 a 12.4c maximum in July at Aspatria Met Office site so its really on par with the absolute pits of bad Julys
  14. quite sunny? 83 hours of sunshine here so one of the dullest Julys on record, only thing is it hasnt been that wet with 56mm here, all to change in the next 3 days. 1st - 10th had a mean maximum of 20c here 11-31st (using forecasted temps) will have a mean maximum of 16.4c - a sick joke and will give the month an overall mean maximum of 17.5c - on a par with july 2012 which was about the coldest on record. Only thing is that had bucket fulls of rain as the excuse for supressed temperatures. Oh and if you exclude the 1st with 30c the mean maximum for the month would actually be 17.1c !!
  15. This has got to be the worst May - July ever here, fairly confident that July will have no more average day which would mean... Days in each month that reached the average temperature or above May - 1 June - 11 July - 7 So only 19 days out of 92 will have reached average temperatures - and therefore 73 below average days out of 92 or 80% of days. i imagine August will add another 31 below average days so it could be an incredible statistic
  16. just getting worse and worse for temperatures even in sunshine it wont go above 16c mean maximum since 10th July just 17.3c mean maximum for the month about 1c below average, take away the 1st's 30c and it would be 1.5c below average
  17. the last 4 days has made July into a horror show now, each day is an extra -0.1c on the anomaly and this looks to continue for the rest of the month going by the forecast. 15-16c at best with a continued strong breeze. revolting. i expect this month to finish at least 1c below average here, the 7th below average month in a row, a complete contrast to 2014
  18. rapidly turning into an awful summer here, especially if you include May which was horrific June was pretty bad and now July is rapidly turning awful too. never known so much prolonged windy weather In July
  19. 31c in a couple of official places in Cumbria today - Carlisle and Brampton, Cockermouth had a high of 30.7c and 29c at Keswick reached 29.5c here not bad at all considering it was cloudy for long periods
  20. Really running out of time for June to sort itself out. More NW winds until Wednesday, so continued below average temperatures. One day where it reached 18c, the new one day "heatwave". The rest of days recently have been 12-13c during the bulk of the day, comparing to 11-12c during most of May. warmer air from Wednesday onwards, but here it will most likely be cloudy and wet which equals continued suppressed temperatures. This June here will be as cold as June 2012, but possibly only about as wet as June 2011. Very very Poor. I am fully expecting continued cool weather in July, with days of 13-14c
  21. could end up with my coolest 2nd half of June day on record today previous lowest is 11.7c on the 22nd in 2012, only, 65mm fell on that day in a total washout floodfest. Today is dry. all other cold June days are generally above 13c (except this year and 2012 at the beginning of the month, both with 11c) currently 10.6c, so touch and go
  22. How much longer are we going to have to put up with this W / NW wind? June is quickly turning into a cold disaster just like May.
