  1. Time will tell is suppose. If we get 1 or 2 days of snow he will be way off. Today is day 1 of what has been predicted as a 14 days of cold and snow. Away from the far north and high ground of the north it looks a few days still and in the south may still only see 2 days of snow followed by rain and a thaw , followed by some sleet then back to normal ….
  2. I think the only thing stopping it from being a historic event is the constant transition from rain to snow washing away falls before repeating. GEM also has a lot of snow tomorrow through to a Thursday, it then turns to rain for most and then it’s back to snow Saturday then rain again Sunday. Unlike decembers spell the snow that does accumulate will thaw rapidly in between falls.
  3. UKMO keeps the cold a fair way south right out to the weekend. Looking forward to seeing the precipitation charts later …
  4. Thursday on icon has the snow line further north ..so marginal could go either way for midlands & north, a lot will depend on rural location /: high ground etc
  5. Icon has rain for much of the day (away from high ground) turning to snow in the evening. Chilterns, downs & welsh mountains etc could do well..
  6. UKV has Birmingham to peterborough as the northern extent tomorrow night ..
  7. Worth noting with some of these models.. if you google translate the title (under time and date stamp) it says total falling snow from 0hrs. So it’s not snow depths at that point, it’s total falling snow from the start which might not settle
  8. Perhaps after all these years it will finally ‘snow in Carlisle’. I’ll get my coat… most won’t get the reference
  9. Central southern England and wales is the place to be on the icon as you get a dumping late Weds and again on Thursday ..Late Thursday risk transfers north of the M4 into midlands
  10. Yep… bearing in mind it’s usually very conservative with snow depths (shown hardly anything up till now) and has a good covering for central areas Thursday …
  11. GFS has a brief warm up at the end of the week but by end of the weekend the cold is headed back south with more snow opportunities including the far south
  12. I wouldn’t say it’s a done deal for this to be over in the south by the end of the week. This is the latest ECM for Saturday morning ..
  13. Might be wishful thinking but is there a chance the snow line moves back south ? Look at the progression of the cold and how it stalls then shifts south ..
  14. 18z gfs about 50 miles or so further south so far, see below comparison t+60
