ahhhh the heat is gone for next week and the storm potential for my area has shunted off to the east.

3 summers without a storm - the central south is possibly the worst location in the country for convection - what a painfully boring summer this has been.

part of what ya saying is true but i think central south is a prime loacation for convection. i saw a high end f2 tornado last oct that was 300m wide with several small damaging vortices within. it traveled 63 km inland

The video you captured as it came ashore was fascinating to watch!

There's a whole 60-minute presentation on both the meteorology behind it and the impact at this year's TORRO spring conference being held in Oxford in just over a week's time if anyone fancies coming along - completely free, full programme and to register:

thank you was mesmerising i really didn’t k it where to look i. the sky and on the ground. i did hear about this unfortunately is quite far for me to travel

I'm not very lucky when it comes to seeing nearby tornados.

I lived in Birmingham back in July 2005 and didn't get to see that event, even though I would have had a great vantage point from where I was working at the time.

Although one of my colleagues did manage to see it from staff balcony just as it was dissipating!

and than later seeing it on the news was quite shocking!

And to only be a short distance from this one and being oblivious to it is very annoying 😂

I believe this was the same day? Amazing view !

fair enough, oh dear that’s not good bet you was kicking yourself.

yes that was from the same storm

That's some damage! Was it you who posted a video of it coming ashore? I did remember seeing a couple of videos from the new Milton area.

I was sat in the car in Mudeford, just about to set off on a chase and could see some serious motion.

    Thanks for posting

yes it was me that posted it. was such a sight. i wish i got ahead of it to film the damage as it happened. ah wow that was defo the storm. i literally pulled up in the car park at barton cliff top and there it was.

no worries i can send you the full vid if you want

  5. i know this is old news but i witnessed a very large waterspout/tornado last year. After torro did their research they found that the parent cell traveled 62 inland producing at least 3 tornadoes maybe more . i caught the first one as it came in at barton on sea. was quite a sight to say the least. wasn’t your standard water spout as had a broad rotation with lots of spin ups within. seeing the damage first hand was like something out of a movie lol. i know i’ll probably never see anything like this again but with a warming world who knows! These aren’t my photos neither is the written info but thought i’d share it for. the torro forum i’m on

  6. my best highlights of 2022 was the barton on sea tornado which caused t5 damage in places which is phenomenal for this country.  saw it first hand to which was experience in its self let alone seeing my first waterspout then tornado and not just a normal one as was a multiple vortex. as it came in off the sea i could see the mesocyclone spinning rapidly which must have been 500m across with several funnels touching the water and a horizontal funnel being sucked in from right hand hand side. torro estimated the tornado to be 300m wide at its widest point and this occurred a couple miles in land and also where i saw the worst damage. i will remember this for a lifetime!

This is exceptional footage of large rotation and resulting tornado/waterspout IMO, good job. Have referred your comment to Torro.

thanks for referring me. a farm took some bad damage. a large 100 gallon lpg storage tank was ripped from the floor and gas was leaking everywhere. they shut the road as was to dangerous for anyone in the area. i showed the farm owners the footage and said a tornado may have came through

so i thought i’d take a trip down barton on sea to see this storm coming in. as soon as i arrived i could see rotation on the water with the maddest right to left motion the meso was several 100 yards across rapidly spinning with a couple funnels. as it hit land it kept its intensity so i thought i take a look to see if there was any damage in land an to my surprise there was. a farm had been hit and had a major gas leak as it ripped an lpg canister from the ground and the barns were all over the place with corrugated sheet everywhere with a wall taken out, across the road there was an oak tree snapped in half completely and up the tree the on the field had a lot of damage with bare twisted wood all the the way along . i’m actually buzzing in what i just witnessed and probably will never see that again. ive made a short film out of the footage and pictures for everyone to see
