  1. One thing different this year is any high pressure the winds have been from SW/W or NW. No NE or Easterly’s which means Eastern Scotland has had no haar but further West has seen it rather cloudy. Was in Fife few weeks ago and noticed how brown the grass was so shows how little rain there has been. Apart from last weekend not been much rain to talk about this summer. The year 2000 I recall summer was quite similar.
  2. Last August especially last few weeks of it was actually pretty good after a wet start. Would be good to see a good August but it’s maybe too much to ask. Certainly not been a wet summer here but rather dull. Think it was April the last complete week of dry and sunny weather and since then been rather poor with the odd brief 3 day period of long sunny days.
  3. Been a few downpours past few hours and a wet weekend ahead. That’s making up for the dry week we had although there may have been a slight drizzle this morning.
  4. Lot mid air instability this morning. Could be high base Thunderstorms later although forecast says it’s to remain dry today and overnight but storms forecast further North.
  5. Just noticed last half hour mid level instability lot of higher base stuff and now a towering cumulus producing a rain shower to my south/SSW. While it’s still warm not exactly heatwave here
  6. Yes it’s comfortable this afternoon out in the garden. Nice wee wind it’s just enough. Got the car earlier to fill up with diesel and it did feel like I pulled into a garage in Spain.
  7. Some sunshine this morning then been cloudy this afternoon now low cloud making it’s way in this evening. This heatwave which is been talked about looks some of us will be missing out on some long days of sunshine. This time Eastern Scotland to get more in the way of sunshine and higher temperatures. Not been a washout so far this summer but it’s been rather gloomy and damp here and little in the way of days sitting out in the sun. After next week we will all notice the nights drawing in by quite a bit and had no summer. Also been cold at night reminding me of 2007 when we had the heating on in late June. At least that year the April and May were scorchers. This year been poor with April having a number of sunny days but no heat.
  8. Just went through here too but was only a few minutes and now it’s became so much brighter now that the Squall has passed through.
  9. I drove through Paisley late morning and there must have had a downpour from what I could see with the amount of spray on the road. Radar did show a cluster of heavy showers coming up through Ayrshire, West Coast onwards into Argyll this morning.
  10. Been a nice morning and some fair weather cloud bubbling up past few hours. Out of nowhere cloud has built up fast and just had a heavy shower. Was expecting a nice afternoon too.
  11. Yes seen that then heard a long rumble. Nothing fallen here though still dry
  12. Heaviest snowfall of the day I’ve seen up here. Will no doubt melt once the showers passes.
  13. Woke up to find no more snow than what was here last night more like an icy thin dusting. Heavy snow started again though and did hear Thunder too just before 6am.
  14. Heavy snow here now. Could end up with a right dumping through the night as temperature has dropped
  15. Looked outside only a slight dusting here. That shower has moved pretty fast now over towards Edinburgh now.
  16. People on social media said there was loud Thunder around 3am in Glasgow which woke many up. The wind was an issue too that’s all I heard last night. Much better today but we can’t even get a full 24 hours of dry weather. Since New Year it’s just been constantly wet with constant low pressures with brief lulls in between.
  17. Raining here in EK. Was dry for a bit earlier and frost had formed on the cars but gone now as the showers move in. Been a wet winter since the mild New Year it’s been Low Pressure since then with Fronts, Strong Winds and Showers with the odd edge of high pressure giving half a day of dry weather that’s been it. Ground is saturated big time.
  18. Started raining here in EK back of 4 then light snow now turned to heavy snow with the street slowly turning white.
  19. Since mid morning it’s been dry and mainly sunny. Just shows that once the wind dies down these heavy showers don’t get so far inland. All I can see is Anvils towards the coast.. Been out into Glasgow and surrounding area and not seen a clear pavement. Instead its snow turning to slush or been walked and and becoming treacherous..
  20. A fair bit of snow fell overnight here in EK 5 inches anyway on the car. I was expecting heavy snow showers but more in a wet nature that it won’t really be an issue especially under convective Polar Maritime conditions where the showers also pass through quickly.. Heard even lower areas in Glasgow got snow too think the large shower just before the peak period added to most of the problems on roads too. However talking of local authorities clearing roads in winter conditions Glasgow appears to be the worst I’ve seen. Too often roads don’t even get gritted in the city. Then you see the whole city gridlock when there is the slightest fall of snow. Many places too can’t get a plough through it due to speedhumps on main roads leaving large areas (Castlemilk) without a bus service.
  21. Woke and up and expected a frost outside. Look out the window and it’s snowing and now a whiteout. Met Office forecast predicted clear skies and some cloud this morning. Didn’t expect this.
  22. Surprisingly nice through here this afternoon bitterly cold now but dry with little wind. I dare say it will be picking up later although it was pretty windy overnight then calm all day.
