  1. I see a warning out mainly for South East. l for Thundery conditions. Is this the Warm Front or following Troughs to cause this anybody know? One forecast says Thundery Rain (which you would think from the Warm Front which is unusual) yet another Forecast mentions Thundery Showers which I would expect from a Trough.
  2. First nice afternoon and evening in EK for a long time. Some heavy showers this morning but was dry rest of the day and not had anything dry even for an afternoon for quite some time.. Clouds to my east this afternoon were Towering Cumulus very bright to look at and also looked like and Spring afternoon cloud formation.. Grass needs cut really so hope get a few dry days now.. Reminds me of the 2007 summer this year. Constantly went and below average temperature plus central heating been on a number of times this summer again just like 2007..
  3. Was a downpour in EK back of 6 tonight was driving and seen lightning to my south..
  4. Went to the Airshow today at East Fortune. Awful day with cancellations to practically all aircraft shows.. An Occluded Front with low stratus cloud, persistent rain, wind and even mist later in the day was no conditions to see anything and unsafe for most aircrafts flying low. We do get days like this in summer where frontal rain sits over whole country but it's been too often this year.. Horrible cold day for Central Belt the Ice Cream vans at Airshow were deserted yet "Fresh Donuts" seemed to be the busiest van.. Really struggling now to hold an outdoor event up here yet the 3rd consecutive awful summer..
  5. I seen a dark looking sky southwest to me earlier but thought nothing of it. There was a light shower this evening here. I drove round the corner and went from a wet road to major surface spray so missed out on a downpour yet street behind me didn't..
  6. West of Scotland had great summer in 1995 both June and August reached great heatwaves even first half of July was good with severe Thunderstorms on the Glasgow Fair Friday (it usually rains that day/weekend as a Tradition) . Any rainfall that summer appeared to be at nightime. 2003,2006 were the next best summers after that..
  7. I agree there.. Up here in Glasgow at somepoint each year you get the usual nonsense on the news or papers when you get an big anticyclone "it was hotter than Ibiza today or hotter than Rome". One or 2 days a year you hear this nonsense yet these places far better over a period of 4 months for sunny, heat and dry weather.. Then when Tropical Maritime air mass hits us the likes of Aberdeen basks in lovely warm sunshine in Spring and Autumn plus high temps but again newspapers brag about it like it's unusual but happens every year at somepoint and is characteristics of this air mass..
  8. Cracking afternoon/evening so it has been and nice heat too. Feels fresh now this evening before this Warm Front comes over us. Talk or Thundery Rain perhaps a Trough catching the Warm Front otherwise it will be the usual cloudy and drizzly affair..
  9. Horrible day that was. Heavy persistent rain all day was very heavy at teatime. That clears and you think it may be a nice evening but no torriental showers have followed now.
  10. Very loud Thunder on ITV from Epsom race course. So much so a horse jumped knocked its jockey off.. Lightning then instant Thunder it was.. Sounded like a firework.
  11. Thundery Showers earlier affected the Sky Box in Pub.. Usually the Cup Finals have been sunny days but Thunder heard today inside Hampden..
  12. Some heavy showers have came over Southern Uplands hitting the Central Belt now some bright colours on radar.
  13. As said a number of posts up Ash tree's now budding down here aswell but Mid to Late May is about normal here.. Plane Tree's are also quite late here in budding yet go anywhere in London there usually in full leaf by early April.. Compared to earlier this month I was sweating after cutting both lawns this morning. Go back 3 weeks ago during that high it was a cold Easterly unless you had shelter in the sun.. Saturday Thundery Showers just in time for the cup final. Most years it's usually been ok for the cup final.. I don't remember any complete wash outs on Cup Final day.
  14. Looks to be cloudy Wednesday under Tropical Maritime conditions then winds will change S/SE for Thursday with Tropical Continental air pushing up. Looks like 2 nice days but Saturday could be wet. Forecast for Ireland is Thundery Rain Friday evening this pushing eastwards..
  15. After the rain this evening the cloud cleared and its became completely clear. Just too late for any sunset. Looks like a Friday to be best day here. Seen a forecast for Saturday it says cloudy and apple weather says Rain. A cold front will be out West come weekend so if weak will bring cloud and not amount to much. See how the predictions go later in week.
  16. We will make up for the dry spell all this week with a fair number of weather fronts but by end of week looks like Polar Maritime airmass with heavy showers and troughs to pass through..
  17. Been a wet past 12 hours or so. Heavy showers late last night then again this morning then a Squall by the looks of it there with a short torriental downpour. Bits of tree seeds/leave all over the cars now..
  18. Yes few rumbles of thunder think it was just south of here and moving east..
  19. Strange all these reports of traffic problems yet where I was in Glasgow was the complete opposite yesterday .. Heavy wet snow nothing lying yet the traffic was better than usual..
  20. Sorry to say but the snow here has turned to rain just now.. Perhaps that's been our snow a slight dusting
  21. I remember the snow event of March 2006 well.. The forecast the night before mentioned snow but I don't remember major snowfall predicted and I predicted rain or sleet and said to a friend we've seen the last of the snow this winter. It was during the day Saturday the 6th Nations was on from Dublin and was Heavy Rain there. Cloudy in Glasgow but was bitter cold.. I went into the City Centre that night and it was bitter. Only to find around 10:30 the first half hour of very light snow which was lying already on Hope Street. By 2am only buses appeared to run with there destination screens covered in snow and the side destination was how you new the number.. Some depth that night and when I woke up in the morning it was drizzle and snow started to slowly melt..
  22. It's been totally cloudy past few days and drizzly early week.. However it's also been totally calm with no wind.. It did feel much colder today with cloudy skies but nice and calm with a frost developing now.. The Ochils have been very clear from my neck of woods.. Beginning of week totally covered in snow plus the Pentlands were well noticeable with snow on them but Ochils still looking quite close but all snow gone. Decent light past few days helping..
  23. Went to pub at 5pm sun was setting only the slightest sign of the warm front beginning to push in.. Left at 8pm and was surprised the rain had already started. Streets were still icy but was rain falling.. Still raining and will for the next few hours the Warm Front pushing through but soon as it does we have a cold front straight behind. Judging by the temps behind it we're into Returning Polar Maritime Airmass.. Gloomy for next few days but beats the Polar Maritime airflow with heavy shower after shower..
