  1. yeah its what I said in another thread, where we are the jetstream is all over the place, but the other side of the globe its stable. we seem to have constant high pressure blocks etc. and hot air fighting with cold air to be over us.
  2. those jetstream archives are interesting, they show that on the other side of the world the jetstream is usually much more powerful and also further south, but between america and western europe it moves north and breaks up a lot. eastern europe it is south again which might explain why russia gets so cold.
  3. all fair comments, I have only been into this since july this year so I based on what I have seen since then and you guys have been doing this for years.
  4. I do agree that autumn is usually warmer than spring, and that psychological factor seems to be whats drawing people to turn on their heating as its defenitly not cold. Those temps I posted in my previous post I now have a 3rd number the (feel temp) I assume this means what it feels like taking wind etc. into account. so day/night/feel(day) last 7 days sept. 2012 13/9/10 13/8/9 15/10/11 15/8/10 16/7/13 15/6/12 16/6/14 2013 19/11/20 20/10/20 19/12/18 19/8/18 19/8/19 19/11/18 20/12/19 The feel temperatures have sigificant gaps. in some days 10C. Plus my room temp is hugely affected by wind as I have poor insulation, this explains a lot why I am feeling so hot this year with the complete lack of wind or even a breeze.
  5. Looking at pics of the jetstream the gap between hot and cold air, it always seems to go straight until it approaches western europe and then in that area breaks up or goes wavy. If it were straight the uk would always be above the jetstream and be its natural colder state, but this wavyness seems to artifically shift hot air above the uk and nearly all radars seem to be like that, to show what I mean is 3 images I made, the black circle been the uk, the blue been cold air and red been hot air. The third image is what they all seem to always look like, the 2nd image is what it should like that but never is and first I wonder why is never like the first.
  6. its getting hotter still. Today 24C in my room during the night and only down to 22.9C right now at 4.42am with the front door wide open. People putting heating on at 16C to me seems like you just wimps, 16C isnt cold. No wonder people seem to adore the july drought so much, if they cold at 16C. I still believe again is down to this mild weather, there is no air movement whatsoever outside, not even a breeze. In 2011 that year when had indian summer I didnt use heating until december. I bet if I walked into your houses I would be very uncomfortable with the heat. I have been like that in a few houses have visited where people live with extreme heating.
  7. I do but that did not carry on from hot sept, I didnt go from sept 30 to oct 1 not wearing a t-shirt and I also remember not having to take my t-shirt off then either.
  8. sept this year is defenitly warmer than may was. I have just had to take my t-shirt off again due to sweat. seems air temperature isnt the only factor, in may we had much more wind.
  9. on top of this we have had unusual amounts of high pressure, there is no wind almost all summer. This has a huge impact on perceived temperatures.
  10. I think it wont be mild, extreme summers tend to go with extreme winters.
  11. ok managed to get some figures. last 7 days of sept for my area in 2012. C day/night 13/9 13/8 15/10 15/8 16/7 15/6 16/6 2013 19/11 20/10 19/12 19/8 19/8 19/11 20/12 looks hotter to me. I think the real factor is the hot nights, when the night is cold the next day tends to be much more pleasant. The MET blog says in 2012 sept seen temperatures below 0. So I dont know what you guys are on about saying this year is normal. Also in regards to sunlight, during the main part of august where you guys were complaining of rain, it was sunny almost every day here.
  12. my ideal is removing the extremes, so a warm winter followed by a cool summer.
  13. last year was defenitly cooler. september this year I am hotter than I was in july last year. still not wearing a top. I think this is the first year I can remember off hand where I have gone into october been too hot to wear a top. The last 2 days got a bit cooler, my room temp dropped to 23C in day about 21.5C at night with front door closed, with front door open at 3-5am I got it down to 20.2, so very close to been below 20. However today is warmer again, hit 25.6 earlier and is 23.7 at the moment.
  14. Bizarre, yes it was more pleasnatly cool last week but it certianly wasnt cold heating needed weather, you guys seem very attached to tropical type weather if you needing heating in a hot september.
  15. yes I do remember how cold it was in spring but thats nowhere near as bad as central heating and thick clothes takes care of it. At 3.35 am after having my front door wide open since midnight my room is 21.8C. Clearly I am hotter than you guys when you are reporting temps in the teens, I havent seen teens since last week. I am not working out or doing anything heavy physical, I am getting sweaty just sitting down. although the sweat has gone now after having the door open during the night. To me a big sign its hot weather is when you can walk outside at 2-5am and not feel cold or even remotely chilly with no top on. Tommorow midday I expect my room temp to be mid 20s again.
  16. Remember the pit with us been in the middle of the country we get very little wind here and wind has huge affect on percieved temperatures. eg. when I visit my parents in cromer it always feels much colder there than it does in leicester. When my sister went to ireland in july she commented that when she back to leics and got off the train it felt like she walked into a furnace. But regardless yes here now the temps inside arent much lower than what I had in july about 5C lower. In the day if I walk outside it doesnt feel any cooler at all, just as hot and stuffy. Right now and all day (same for last 3-4 days) I have no top on, its that hot. Also i see blokes walking around with no top on, girls hot summer clothing etc.
  17. ok thanks, thats depressing, the only thing I am grateful for its not quite at the july extremes. I expect when ti does end it will be a sudden shift to been too cold, the perfect temp's I like are what is got in between winter and summer seasons and tend to be shortlived. But I do prefer been too cold to been too hot.
  18. Central heating? To give you an idea how hot it is. In july my room temp was 30-33C. Mid sept things got pleasant and it dropped down to 15-22. Was very nice, nowhere near heating required temp, just pleasant, I was in t-shirt. Now its unbearable again very hot and stuffy. I have been opening my front door every day this week to get air circulation. Currently room temp is 24.8C and it drops to about 23C at 3am unless I open front door. How are people reporting temps below 20 this week? I havent even come close to it. With front door open for an hour at 3am I can get my room down to about 21.5C at the most.
  19. Right now its hot and humid again another heatwave. A week ago it was brilliant. Summer just wont end. I am sleeping again on top of covers in sweat and laughed when I read in newspapers people were using central heating. My question is when is the colder air expected again? Currently no wind. Hot Humid Dry Even with it been cloudy today it feels very hot.
  20. what has caused this hot weather that wont go away? is it hot air pushed up from the south that refuses to move back south?
  21. to me the midlands has been aweful this year, too much hot burning sun without wind/breeze hardly any rain. I had a conversation with my sister about this, she was ironically on holiday during much of the july heatwave but came back whilst it was still on, she said it was hot where she was on holiday but the difference was the air was fresh and it felt cool indoors. Whilst here in leicester you dont feel cool indoors (in the shade). Her description when she got of the train after getting back "it felt like walking into a furnace". To me unless you tolerable of heat, dont have anything physical to do then long periods of dry boiling hot weather is not a good summer. A friend visited me from africa yesterday as well, he said leicester feels hotter than africa. Right now i am covered in sweat again (wearing no top) today and last 2 days are the july type weather.
  22. since about 20 august its been sunny every day here. Not as hot as july but its humid and sweaty type weather, feels like air from spain/tropics sort of air.
  23. on that rain graph as usual I am in the dry. its always at coast and west part of country only. on the east midlands news 2 nights ago it was reported in august there was on average 11 wet days for england, leics only had 2 wet days in august the dryest location in country. seems hard to find cloud graphs. only rain graphs. is still warm stuffy air here, no wet weather, absolutely desperate for sustained rain. Why are the predictions so crazy the past 4-5 weeks? hot one day cooler the next etc. Although here 90% are wrong, nearly every wet day predicted has been dry.
  24. just seen this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/feeds/23833248 for those who love hot weather, is that their paradise? 38C and fires.
  25. yes I am wondering why everyone forgot that very late summer a couple of years ago. october was very hot then. this year is like a never ending nightmare, the hot stuffy weather just keeps coming back and next to no rain here. spoke to my neighbour about it the other day as he wondered why I have had my front door wide open for the last 6 weeks and told him without it I would have died of heat. He told me he nearly fainted at work in kitchens in july. So am I right this new hot spell (heatwave?) is due to the jet stream breaking up so we below it again and that azore high coming back?
