Excellent thunderstorm passing within miles to my south at the moment. Vivid purple lightning and crackling thunder.
Yep, it was a lovely surprise, just passed to the South of me.

23 failed storm warnings this year.
seems to be a batch of heavy showers incoming from the south but not sure if there are any storms those yet.
Looks like just plain old rain to me!

After yet another failed thunderstorm warning for my area yesterday. Today looks to be heading the same way.
Still, looks like we will actually get some welcome rain.

Beautiful morning, a little mist around on the way into work - but looks to be a glorious day to come.

Typical isn’t it. Didn’t seem to matter on many past occasions but I’ve really noticed it more recently.
Yep, me too. Really don't understand why but hey hoo it's certainly noticeable over the last 10yrs or so.

The channel and dog leg of the coastline doing its thing in weakening the storms as they head towards Weston-super-Mare.
Places to the South and East will do well, while I'll be feeding of distant flashes and rumbles.

12.8c and 74mm please

something is seriously wrong now...today was the 20th separate thunderstorm warning this summer for my town.....and none of the 20 warnings have brought a storm..in fact we have had 1 rumble of thunder since last August......how can they be so wrong all the time?
I don't even bother taking any notice of warnings for thunder storms anymore. Its just a broad brush stroke that doesn't take in to account local topography.
Here in Weston-super-Mare we miss 95% of the storms, but only 10-15 miles East, South or North get all the action, and we get nothing, but still end up in the warnings.

The Weston-super-Mare storm shield seems to be doing a mighty fine job this last week or so, and looks to be doing the same this week too.....

I think it's safe to say that the Weston-super-Mare storm/snow shield has done its job again.
Very disappointing couple of days, especially when in the high risk zones.

16.8c and 78mm please.

Yep, same here - all the action seems to be around Exmoor and north of Taunton.
Just too close to the coast is our problem.
-
Just plain old rain now, not even that heavy.
Very disappointing again for my locale, but not surprising really, as it seems to be the way things go these days.
-
Too close to the coast of the Bristol channel. 10miles further in land and you're right in the thick of it.
Turning out to be an okay evening here now, sunny spells and feeling warm.
Had enough rain to water the garden.
-
Classic case of the dog leg coastline killing of the storms for my area.
Plenty going on South and to the East of me though.

Some beefy showers here, and I can hear thunder ⛈ from the storms further East

Way too overcast Can't see anything happening here today.

Looks like we need to wait a few hours before any storms kick off, on the storm thread people are saying after 1pm….
I'll reserve judgement I'm afraid.
On a positive note, the sun has been trying to come out, that's gotta be a good thing?
-
Well I'm in the high risk warning zone again on some forecasts, and as previously nothing came off it. There's only so many times you can cry wolf.... right?

I'm right in the middle of the warning zone, and within the black circle.
It really doesn't feel like anything other than any other typical day here! I have a feeling it will stay that way too....

Same here, have had more foggy mornings last month than probably the last 10yrs put together.
Love a foggy start to the day
