  1. Look at the radar. that band is not going anywhere fast and it keeps intensifying randomly in selected spots. Birmingham has been hit like a bullseye!
  2. WOW its like a Siberian wasteland here.. eerily quiet and whiteout! edit; and ive just seen a snowplow!
  3. Heavy snizzle here re-covered cars, paths and roads. I just watched the BBC forecast and that looked much better than yesterdays for snow IMBY. It's not even showing on the radar so this is positive news.
  4. Piccy of the snow outside of my front door taken this morning;
  5. As far as I can see, ECM and UKMO prolonging the cold at this stage. GFS breaks it down but hasn't it been doing that for the last week? look where we are now. Infact, i read a post on here v.late last night proclaiming 'GFS has it too far west, it's game over for WM' again, look where we are now. L
  6. Ooh watch out! Looks like we are in 'extreme peril' on Friday! Lol http://www.britishweatherservices.co.uk/red-snow-warning-issued/ If we get anything near 20cm ill be happy!
  7. I bought winter tyres for my car for the first time ever in november and I think that officially jinxed the whole winter for everyone lol. I hope I get to use them properly though
  8. I thought we would never top the crapness of last winter but this one is looking even more disappointing .
  9. I can vouch for this. I have lived in Birmingham for 4 years but I was born and brought up in Cardiff and oh boy was there a serious snow-shield in action there! It was painful to live there during cold spells. It's sheltered by valleys to the N and E and at sea level, snow would rarely get over those valleys from eaterlies or northerlies and if it did, the breeze from the channel would often turn it to slushy sleet. On the other hand, we'd do we'll from (v. rare) channel lows which would deliver lots of snow! I find the midlands much colder during cold spells, we never got ice days in Cardiff. 2010 was'nt as cold in Cardiff as it was up here but it was snowier, they had a foot of snow then! L
  10. Yeah i need to stay positive and just think back to the horror-show weather we had throughout Christmas and think myself lucky the temps have fallen below 0c! Although I'm now through with being the resident 'weather guy' amongst my colleagues as I well and truly got a hammering by them and the pupils I teach! In terms of the forecast SSW, that can only enhance the trend to keep pressure high to our NE L
  11. I don't post much but I just feel compelled to do so in these situations! What a pathetic whiff of a cold spell, blink and you'll miss it! Yes we had a dusting earlier but t'was all gone by 11am after it rained the last remnants of any white stuff away When you think back to the expectation just 48 hours ago it's a massive downgrade in my books. Nothing like the snow events of 09/10. rant over! L
  12. Light snow in Sutton Coldfield. Nice dusting so far!
  13. Still no snow here in Sutton Coldfield. It looks liken the band is stalling and fizzling. Looks good for Sunday night into Monday according to the latest NAE though.
  14. Well, having put winter tyres on my car back in November I knew i'd jinxed this winter (just like i jinxed the summer when I bought a convertible!) but maybe I may finally get some use outta those damn tyres after all! L
  15. Snow for Wednesday? I really can't see that happening here , if it does I may just eat one of my many hats. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/expertcharts?LANG=en&MENU=0000000000&CONT=ukuk&MODELL=gfs&MODELLTYP=1&BASE=201001161200&VAR=taup&HH=90&ZOOM=0&ARCHIV=0&WMO= Dew points too high, surface temps between 2-5c and I have lots of Trash due to be picked up which hasn't been collected in weeks!
  16. Funnily enough its still snowing here, Its very light 'snizzle It hits you like sand but its still accumulating! Not showing on the Radar though?!
  17. No chance for me, I work in a school and we haven't had one day off! We battled into work earlier, 90% of staff got in an hour and a half late and had to leave normal time (1 and a half hours after students leave) Our head has 'Taught in Canada' and school closures are 'not on his agenda'!! lol
  18. Well, its definitely snowing now. may it continue!
  19. Its really pepping up in just the right places. Looking at the meteox radar, there is a good deal of precip moving in from the Netherlands. http://www.meteox.co.uk/gmap.aspx?soort=loop3uur&zoom=7&lat=52.72298552457069&lon=5.888671875
  20. Gutted! Where is all the snow?! Its just grey and gloomy out there and not as cold. The actual picture looking at the latest radar is a total contradiction to current BBC forecasts. I'm hoping this isnt gonna go down as another monumental cock-up. B) *rant over*
  21. I can't understand why they have done this, its even gone for the East Midlands! BBC weather forecasts thismorning clearly show tomorrows snowfall quite widespread and stretching further north, say, manchester/leeds area. I have seen moderate snowfall today with more showers packing in towards this area, by monday morning, travelling anywhere here will most likely be quite difficult and dangerous?
  22. argh, it looks like the MetOffice have removed advisories/warnings for the Midlands on Sunday?!
