  1. I'm doing all that already Stratos mainly out of concern for my finances. Just in case it was the Sun all along I suggest we each cover our back gardens with Al foil. Belt and braces you understand.
  2. Fact is that the models can't possibly take natural cycles into account with complete confidence, probably a lot of room for error IMO. How arrogant we are.
  3. Moderate snow now in south bucks, at work, 30 miles west of London.
  4. Very likely, but more from s midlands northwards this time, London may well miss out I'm afraid.
  5. I think you will later on saturday - get set for a white- out !
  6. Frankly I'm amazed (but not surprised ) at your rating of slight-moderate, unless you are comparing it to 47 and 63.
  7. Yep , 6-7 inches here and still going ! Best snow for 13 years, and very nice on top of the 3 inches we got two weeks ago.Good to see that even in the " even larger teapot " we can get a serious dumping if the synoptics are right, which hasn't often been the case for the last 20 years due to a persistently positive NAO. I also hope it will stop those one or two doomsayers who would have us believe frontal snow was a thing of the past in the UK,a t least until the next mild spell. I also think that saturday is a dead cert snow event with quite a lot of disruption for the midlands and north, far from a sleet and rain event, we should even get a couple more hours snow down here . Looking forward to the minus 8 progged for here tonight.
  8. No Cigar ? I'm sitting here looking at 6 inches of snow , and still snowing, from a westerly frontal system ( which some on here had more or less said was never going to happen again) and I can assure you I have in my mouth the biggest , smoking Havana you have ever seen. One thing we should have learnt by now is that in this set up, the models don't cope well at all past 96 hrs. And the 06Z gfs already has the colder air further south on saturday. More snow for us again I think, and hopefully , for everybody.
  9. Best snowfall for about 7 years ( 3 inches) still a little bit left. Pretty good for a northerly that didn't originate very far north, I think about the latitude of Iceland. Delivered more than I expected.
  10. And yet ...... a work colleague was in Valencia ( Spain) over the holidays and reported 0.5 metres of snow at 100 metres. Although there is global warming going on this suggests to me that synoptics is the cause for the UK mild winters.
  11. Frightening really.I've changed my avatar in deference.I still can't help but think we are in for a big correction sometime soon. Although I don't especially follow the CET like a hypochondriac constantly monitoring his own temperature ,the next 13 months should be very interesting.
  12. I can understand your doubts about Monckton. I too have my doubts.I'm sure we are contibuting to GW but how much I sense has been exaggerated. You carry on posting what you like EA , let the mods worry about the content. Good to have you on board.
  13. As I note that you are a newbie I will be nice I posted the part one bit as a new thread so I posted the part two bit as a new thread as well. I have only just noticed it so I thought I'd bring it to the attention of others. Some will agree with Monckton ( like me), some will not ( like you.) He has been discredited across the net by....surprise, surprise, Mr Hockey Stick Mann ....who himself has been widely discredited.
  14. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml.../12/nclim12.xml Another good job by Chris.
  15. You're definitely not the only one with objections. As a practising scientist myself, I have seen how individual scientists get personal with their own data and simply refuse to believe it is flawed.
  16. Good to see this subject back on track. Just to add my belated "welcome back" Carinthian.
  17. All right I will, good job I've got one of those full height ones.
  18. You are right. It's another tiring case of "everything" being due to global warming.I have yet to see a commercially grown sunflower field down here , and I get around a bit. I have heard that they are on the increase, but this will be purely down to economics. There is a good market for sunflower oil, and it is an easy crop to grow. It doesn't need a vet and it doesn't get foot and mouth and banned by the frenchies.
