  1. There's a lot more ice down there this year, for sure. Sorry Gray Wolf
  2. They are using the same method in 2007 as they used in 2006 so the comparison that AFT makes is valid.
  3. I can see that there will be no convincing you then !
  4. Hi GW. I respect your anaysis but a record is a record. SST's have been well below average down there this winter as have air temps so it is not surprising that there has been more ice formation. Besides it's ice area, not extent.
  5. Official now, new SH ice area record 16.17 msqkm.
  6. I would agree that the phrase " I don't see any chance" means that there is "no chance" so that is ruling it out. You should know by now SF that nothing goes umissed on this forum.
  7. Frost here in Thame last night. Thermometer on my patio down to 3C.
  8. Looks like a new ice area record has been set boys Maybe there is another software glitch Previous record was 16.03, now looks to be over 16.1 msqkm
  9. Yes it was joke OP, should have used a smiley thing
  10. HOLD THE FRONT PAGE.... Cryosphere today reports that due to a software glitch the SH winter ice maximum record has not been broken yet ! We are, I'm afraid, all doomed after all. http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/
  11. P3 You only need to visit the sceptics links to see that there is a welter of evidence questioning AGW and alleged evidence of some falsification going on. There is a bit of an AGW bandwagon on this one, with positions becoming entrenched un healthily in my opinion. Global warming there may be, but not much and certainly open to doubt that it is AGW. Possible, but certainly open to serious doubt. That doubt and a desire to save money makes me very careful about my use of fossil fuels I might add. This link from the sceptics area sums up my concerns. http://www.mitosyfraudes.org/Calen7/MornerEng.html Certainly the public are not with you, not it seems are world governments.
  12. Thats very good news, because a wordwide freeze would be far more damaging than a 3-5C warm up. I don't think we will enter into runaway warming, and I wouldn't be surprised if global temperatures started trending down in the next few years. I don't believe we have as good a handle on the science as we like to think.
  13. Could I suggest that Arctic ice discussions are kept to the Arctic ice thread ? The mods created this thread specifically because the arctic thread was becoming contaminated with antarctic posts, lets not contaminate this thread too. You'll just have to resist the temptation to bite.
  14. Googled it BFTP, and you are right. Try telling anyone that Antarctica contains 90% of all the worlds ice too, and see what response you get Hi Osm. I did say slight Call me a cynic, but it was the way they made it clear that the records only went back to -79 ( inference- unreliable) and followed the bit on Antarctica immediately with a reiteration about the Arctic ( inference - defensive posture). With that site it's also words like Arctic ice minimum " annihilated"; , a term which suggests that the author is a bit emotional. When people get emotional they start to lose their sense of objectivity. Reading between the lines I see a lack of objectivity in their line of thinking when presented with something which is unexpected and goes against their grain. However, it's just a personal observation which others might not see.
  15. Yes, but it wasn't there when I posted, honest guv ! Probably OP put it up while I was editing. But just in case anyone missed it : The Antarctic maximum winter sea ice area record has been smashed, with the current sea ice area at 16.26 million sq km, beating the previous record of 16.03. Slightly grudgingly admitted on Cryosphere Today.

  17. You may not be wrong, but it's not as clear cut as that. Doctors get it wrong.God knows car mechanics get it wrong. Not all climate scientists agree that the world is in imminent danger from AGW. A lot don't. Climate scientists are also humans beings, who can lose objectivity when their work is criticised or questioned. They also like to have a roof over their head and food in their belly. Enough said. I see it quite often in my job.I trained as a scientist and have been making a good living out of it for 22 years since.
  18. Fascinating , thanks OP. You forgot the Antarctica region, which is lower generally and this may explain the increased sea ice area this winter.
  19. Well it is important because the CO2 increase is/may be due to the warmer temps today, not as a result of. Warmer seas means less solubility of CO2, hence more in the atmosphere.
  20. I don't see what the problem is Jethro, many scientists are practising Christians, Jews or Muslims. All they are saying is don't cock up the world which God created. Anyway there is no conflict between science and religion. Science is the study of God's creation and laws.
  21. Fractionally down is the Antarctic, but right on the money on an increasing 30 year trend.
  22. Hi SB-that has to be the earliest and most outrageous snow ramp ever - we are only just past the middle of August
