Normally I take whatever the weather gives out does not generally effect my mood - but this rain is really starting to get even me down - just want to start puttering in the garden feel the sun on your face etc ! It really has been a wet rolling 12 month period …. It surely has to end soon ??

Just woken up by thunder and lightning in Surrey was not expecting that!
-
Yup raining already here - few showers ahead of the main rain band or the Sunday afternoon ruiner !
-
Keeping an eye on tomorrow’s rain - we are just outside the warning area here in Surrey but I guess it could trend a bit N & W ??

Seem to recall the Azores high was pushed north and often to the west of the uk we had a lot of light nw winds - which brings very settled warm / hot conditions to southern half of England !?

there is certainly fear that a winter like 2020-21 or 2017-18 may be the modern version of 2009-10, December
Just don’t engage - an interesting thread has been derailed by this nonsense theory or whatever you may call it !

Plenty of go arounds already, planes look like they're struggling.
Which is strange as it’s not windy at LHR at the moment !

Are those the ones people were saying it was going to be a modern day '63

Warm sector on a wave that doesn’t originate in the frigid flow
the shortwaves have spoiled this week for most.
the nwp has counted down pretty well from a couple weeks out - but the ens means won’t see the shortwaves and they can be effective in cutting off the flow
in tandem with the n American trough being poorly modelled because it’s not going to dig as far south as predicted and sustain for a few days and we see the Atlantic flattened. A deeper n American trough would have sent WAA downstream and helped keep the ridging to our west. And finally the Arctic field remain unpredictable as ever.
Well put nothing weird about it !

£16 a day on gas and elec? Sounds like either a faulty stat or stat is set to high. I take it you have double glazing? 20c is on the high side for a stat setting.
Not necessarily big house big bills !!

I’m very worried about this. The potential for 12hr+ of heavy rainfall in the Midlands and especially where i live (Northants) as many low lying areas are already flooded. Some villages are even putting sandbags up as the flood levels rise and also the ground cannot hold anymore water making the accumulation just run off for floods.
According to the current MO warning area it’s more of a southern England risk so Northants might hopefully miss out !?

Well given the sodden ground and hundreds of flood warnings already in existence 2” of rain could be quite impactful…

Do you think it might get named ….?

67mph gust just recorded at Turweston Aerodrome near Brackley in Northamptonshire.
That’s a notable gust so far in land !
A fair few trees down some across roads between Cobham & Esher would only go out in this area if you really have too !?
-
Can confirm in Surrey it’s really blowing here a dry day time gale !
-
I do think the rainfall amounts are something we should also keep an eye on too …. I am just xpecting that to be more impactful locally in N Surrey ….
