WE (two teams of 15 lads inc subs) all drove considerable distance at 1pm to warm up for a football match, pitch was soft but playable and forecast was for 'showers'. Spent 45 mins 'warming up' in a down pour by the end of which the pitch was no longer playable. If the forecast had been anywhere near accurate on the amount of rain then we wouldn't have needed to bother.
I hear you - it was a fairly significant rain event across the Surrey hills we have had warnings for a lot less ! It was well flagged by some of the guys on here though ( apols I can’t remember who )

Quite common in the US as its law to clear the sidewalk outside your property.
This leads to many property owners clearing snow who probably medically shouldn't be such as heart disease sufferers etc.
exactly !

Wow. To be honest I feel sorry for those with electric heaters. No gas. That has got to hurt this winter. But gas wise I can't understand how it's so high. I'm in a three bed, thermo set at twenty, and it hasn't been that high in one day, even during the cold spell. I can't let the house get cold, cause hubby can't breath well in the cold.
I think it just depends what you are heating big homes require more heating than small ones !

During the week of 'winter' we used £15 of gas per day, this week we are using less than half. I would be happy with a blow torch Atlantic for the rest of the winter perhaps with one more cold snap. Sorry, up until this year when gas was one quarter the price I was a coldie but things change....
Yep we touched £19 one day !! It’s quite sobering really

It doesn’t feel particularly noteworthy currently here in Surrey very nice summer morning but around 18c partial clear skies …. It’s usually already over 21c at this time on days when we go above 32c - anyway time will tell ..

GFS certainly playing the role of the pantomime villain again - interesting that Mr Holmes thinks it wouldn’t be at the forefront of considerings for the pro’s - so maybe some hope then !!

I know this is the June thread but I've had a feeling about August 2022 for years.... I think it will smash records and go down in legend like 1976....were talking a CET well above 20.C and 40.C being reached.
Quick call the Daily Express

Thank you for the very informative and scientific analysis … certainly should serve as a reminder to temper expectations a little ..!??
I remain hopeful being geographically well placed should things occur but will not be tempted to tell the neighbours storms incoming just yet ..!
