  1. The true snow line around these parts is actually 300m…. So i’d expect a nice covering up there and something more temporary above 200m.
  2. Unexpected Sleet/wet flakes in the rain this morning on the hills close to Sowerby Bridge. Only 2.5c about 1hr ago though! I'm sure today was supposed to be the good weather day?!
  3. A good day of snow here….maybe 5/6” with even more higher up. The drifting is decent above 300m too. Maybe some more on it’s way!
  4. ukpaul ukpaul I look towards Tommy Topsoil, i can’t see far down towards Triangle. Heavy snow at the moment.
  5. Moderate falling and settling snow here. It looks like a snow event in the hills away from the urban heat islands.
  6. Not the worst of rain here, incredibly windy though on our exposed pennine hill side.
  7. Personally i like any variation in winter weather away from the wind AND rain…i don’t mind either on their own. We get snow every winter, whether that’s for a day or a week. I am a coldie, the weather has been gorgeous this last week, however, I don’t chase it. It’s different for us living on a hillside in the pennines to somebody living in a semi-detatched house in Hastings (for example). The difference being is that we face the extremes of winter weather and i’m sure any hill dweller will tell you that we just don’t like the wind AND rain.
  8. A very windy start to the day, the rain is weakening as it comes against the pennines…imagine the pennines being 1500m high instead of 500m (around west yorks) and the rain shadow we would get on the eastern side. Still only 2.7c…the dog enjoyed her walk and i was happy to keep fairly dry!
  9. A few random snow showers have been coming through Lancs/Greater Manchester to parts of West Yorkshire overnight. They weren’t forecast at all?
  10. It’s been snowing here lightly with the odd moderate burst for over an hour, all surfaces covered in a dusting.
  11. I’ve been on this forum for 14years pretty much, and from November on the same chat pretty much gets repeated. Nearly always folk say ‘much better signals for a cold spell next month’ …. Every year! We do usually get snow, just not when it’s forecast.
  12. I just want dry weather cold weather. We nearly always get snow if it’s cold for long enough anyway in Yorkshire.
  13. Every time I check the models chat or a BBC forecast the cold is a few days further on, always on the horizon…..
  14. Well the weather improved for 3-4 hours around here yesterday late morning/early aft. It came back with a vengeance in the form of very heavy showers, incredibly windy overnight and very heavy showers. Still it was nice to see the sky a little yesterday and the moon yesterday evening in between the showers. Hopefully the recycling is ok!
  15. A lovely day yesterday, back to the bilge today. Rain 13/14 days for the last 2 weeks. An awfully wet winter. Here is to hoping for something drier in the New Year.
  16. It was throwing it down last night for a few hours, real heavy stuff. A drier day forecast today and not looking quite as wet this week ahead,
