  1. Good point above, you need elevation for it to settle. Only really trying to settle in the heavier bursts lower down.
  2. Plenty of snow in the South Pennines near to Sowerby Bridge and Ripponden. The early snow fizzled out then this started about 1hr30 ago. We seem to be in a pretty good spot, It looks like folk to the east along the M62 corridor beyond Leeds will have to wait a bit. Very slow moving!
  3. It's snowing lightly here, has been for a few hours now. Nothing exciting, that looks like it comes tomorrow! Good luck at low elevations, I hope you get snow too.
  4. You'll have some idea how it feels for us in West Yorkshire then, where we often get a lot more rain! compared to the south east corner. A shame it hasn't snowed everywhere for you all, hopefully it will come this winter
  5. Snow showers on and off through the night up here, the snow line seems to be about 200m as of yesterday afternoon. Only a light covering as most of the showers weren't heavy. We went walking on the moors above Hebden Bridge yesterday, snow laying above about 275m (Pecket well upwards) with significant melt on sunnier slopes. Above 360m the snow hasn't melted and cover is reasonably deep considering how most of what has fallen has been from shower activity. Some drifiting on the tops of the moors, 400m upwards with what looks like a significant depth of snow above 450m on the higher fells around those parts such as Lad Law (517m)
  6. Morning, still good snow cover here although some very slow melt has occured. We are at 240m in the Pennines, minimal warming out here in the countryside. I expect snow melt today, especially if it rains. I do expect more snow today in the showers but likely 300m+ which is the usual snow line around here in marginal conditions. It will be building up in some parts around here now, especially a bit further north (Hebden/Haworth northwards) as they had more snow last week and yesterday. The first snow fell here yesterday at about 12.30/1pm and settled straight away from that, we had frozen ground and minimal warmth from the sun.
  7. I did the Trog fell race recce (20miler) above Old Town, up and over towards Stanbury/Top Withens....That part of the world (about 8miles from me in Hubberton) got the shower streamer we didn't get a few days ago. Plenty of snow up there on the tops...above 200m though...350+ for good snow near Hebden now.
  8. Still some snow cover on the Pennines near to Sowerby Bridge & Ripponden. A group of us just did a 20mile fell run over the moors up to Haworth, much more snow up on the moors...really beautiful. Had an unexpected snow shower in and amongst the sun and fog. Perfect snow conditions above 300m, especially so up above 375m, no melt at all. The moors are the place to go in the coming days for your snow fix, it won't really melt up there now until something significantly milder comes along. Hopefully a lot more snow on it's way! I've been on here for many years, come back each winter...I'm used to the disappointment of model watching now, to take nothing as gospel until it's 24/48hrs away.
  9. Back to cold and damp in the pennines now. some snow on the tops...but not much!
  10. A light covering of snow here in between Sowerby and Ripponden....Nothing at similar elevations further east. It's very Pennine based at the moment
  11. It did feel nice today until the wind and fog came in from over lancs, Freezing now!
  12. Are you sure ? We had a dusting of snow here alllll last winter, the worst in terms of snow for a long time but I hardly used any gas!
  13. We've had the lightest snow ever up here, but snow nevertheless
  14. Yeah Nick, I've been keeping an eye on Bareges as i've been there skiing before (Grand tourmalet) and well over a metre so far.
  15. What about the mega snow in the Pyrenees? over a metre and still falling in Bareges.
  16. Great photos Allseasons! Maybe more of us should travel if we want snow
  17. Go to Norway or Sweden or Finland instead as Iceland doesn't always have snow cover in more populous parts in winter.
  18. Not much to complain about regarding this winter, I've had quite a bit of snow and i still have snow laying...i'll put some pics up with this message from todays walk up crow hill near Sowerby Bridge.
  19. It's been windy here since Thursday :/ it is pretty consistent. Nice drifting snow.
  20. It changed at about lunchtime here, all melting stopped and the temp dropped to prob 2 degrees c.
  21. I just take it all as it comes, i can't change what weather we are going to get so i don't like to hope 'that' system gets over here. I spend most of the year hoping to dodge winds and systems. I think i need to move to Scandinavia, they have it sussed there....only prob is the missus wants southern france and not cold.
  22. There has definately been a good bit of melting today, anybody who says other wise is telling porkies. The melt pretty much stopped at lunch ish when the cloud cleared away. I think above 300m there has been little or no melt with elevations lower than that suffering varying amounts of melt down to sea level where there is all but nothing. Even though it snowed last night it really wasn't that cold, tonight will be cold if it stays clear, and tomorrow is going to be a lot colder than today has been.
