What a weird day it's been

Started raining lightly here. This is being a terrible tease.
-
First rumble of thunder!

-
Threatening looking skies all around here.
-
Blimey, sun's come out properly for the first time today!
-
It's not over till the fat lady sings!
Looks a beaut! Most of my view's obscured by scaffolding at the moment.
-
Ouch! Sounds painful! I trust your feelings, thunder is a sure thing for London now.
Hah! Well it's gone darker NE of me at the moment, so we'll have to wait and see if that one goes pop or not. Don't think I'll benefit from that one though.
-
That's the spirit. Grab a beer and enjoy the up and downs of a very interesting meteorological evening
I'm hoping I can nick some of my OH's rum

It's starting to feel right here. I know that's totally unscientific but it does feel like it's getting ready to burst, maybe in an hour or two?
-
Clouds starting to bubble up here. It's not over yet!
-
It's certainly kicking off on the continent, that's for sure!
-
I should add that we could really do with a good soaking, as we've been lacking in rain here the past couple of months, and it's starting to show with leaf drop and dry grass everywhere.

Cloudy, muggy, with some patches of blue sky here. Just posted off the last of my orders for this week so I can get away with not doing any work today if I want, and I've stocked up on a bar of chocolate and hopefully I can nobble some brandy tonight- whether it's to drown my sorrows or toast a good storm, we'll have to wait and see!

Meanwhile, 1 year ago today...
What a monster! Been a very long time since I've seen something like that IRL.

I woke up this morning and thought I'd managed to sleep through it all. Was gutted! So I'm kind of glad that that doesn't seem to have been the case, even though it's obviously rained at some point.
It's definitely a lot muggier today than it was yesterday.
Oh well, there's still next week (and the rest of summer!) to look forward to.

Ha, the Netweather radar is currently showing London encircled by heavy downpours.

Loved the thunder and hail earlier- I had a poor squirrel sheltering with me on the balcony whilst I watched it! Looks like something else is brewing on the horizon at the moment.
Dunno if I'll get to post much in the way of pics this year as our block is undergoing maintenance, so it's smothered in scaffolding, blocking all my views

It's going to be very interesting to see the coverage Tuesday morning.
I am curious, seeing as the jetstream is ramping up again, as to whether Storm Juno could make it as far as the UK? Or is it likely to lose juice as it hits the Atlantic?
-
Yup absolutely howling tv is signal is breaking up
Wheee, can't wait!
-
i think its actually into NW london
Could be. I'm looking at the Netweather radar, so it's always about 15 mins behind. I'm just outside the City so it'll be a bit longer before it gets to me.
-
I reckon that squall line should hit London by about 4am. Definitely hitting the sack after it's passed!
-
Wind really blowing now and the squalls are not even here yet, Looks to be 2 Squalls on radar now.
Yeah, it kind of broke up, and then reformed.
Wind's definitely picked up here now, but no squealing windows yet!
-
When is the peak arriving in London?
I should have added an allegedly to save my butt just in case it all goes pear shaped!
Round about 3am-ish, according to the MET. The squall lines still look a reasonable while away yet, so if they do make it as far as London, might be a bit later?

Same here, just a little gusty and some steady rain. The post Christmas storm was far more powerful, but I don't mind because snow is on the menu next week.
The winds haven't peaked here yet.

Mesmerising! If you ever want to explain rotation in a supercell to your average person, that would be a perfect way to illustrate it.
