I thought it looked like a really cross octopus having a bad tentace day. How on earth did they manage to fix that cam well enough that it's still there? I'm genuinely curious.
That's the pic of the camera.

Is that a life jacket stuck to it? Fluorescent orange plasticly looking material with a black strap (not counting the seeweed)
I think it's actually the strap holding the camera housing to the pole. There's a pic of it in the comments on the page.

Any chance of Fujiwara Effect between Nora and Ida? I thought it looked a bit like outer clouds of Nora where starting to feed into Ida on latest satellite.

In any normal time, I would have chalked this down as a blip of a colder summer, but with the current rapid change in global weather systems, you do have to wonder if this is the first signs of the AMOC shutting down.

We got rain in Birmingham last night, so I was happy. Tomorrow I have a tooth extraction at 5pm, so if I get a clap of thunder as the bugger comes out, I'll be well impressed Otherwise I'm just rolling with whatever happens over the next few days, and see if I get lucky.

Thanks mate, was not expecting a Cg to jump out about 3 miles in front of the others, also shot it in Jpeg whereas if I was on Raw could have recovered it. Just nice to see a storm again tbh
As Bob Ross would say, sometimes art is all about happy little accidents.

Oh, I don't know, I quite like the otherwordly aura it gives it. It might not be naturalistic, but it is artistic.

The marathon streaming session begins....a little instability in the skies over the West Midlands is becoming more apparent.....We might be lucky enough to be able to catch one of the incoming rounds....or maybe not....trust in the EWN
As a hayfever sufferer, I'm hoping for some rain at least. If we get any thunder and lightning, that'll be the icing on the cake

This squall line is intense. I suspect we'll see flash flooding in Brum tonight.

Stonking day for storms. Had two cells with continuous thunder [but mostly no visible lightning again]. Here's some pictures of one storm that I tracked as it progressed up the M11 which produced some shot-gun thunder, and which looked pretty imposing.
Unfortunately, I had to reverse 400 yds down a tiny country road due to a fallen branch - not fun.
Makes a nice change to see some decent convective cloudscapes - few and far between around here this year.
Those are some cracking pics- wouldn't look out of place in the US Midwest, especially that second one; looks like an updraft!

Yep, just heard rumbles again, from the south.

Woah! That was a biblical downpour- there's bound to be flash flooding in Brum tonight. Had a constant roar as the rain pummeled the city centre, with strong gusts too.

Glimpsed a flash of lightning, followed by a good rumble of thunder just as I got home about 15 minutes ago from that storm to the SW, but I'm too exhausted after working in 30+ heat all day and the two mile walk home to go back outside!
Can't hear anything over the aircon!

Fire is still going then!
Unfortunately so. It's a plastics factory on fire. Been going for hours now.
