Unfortunately so. It's a plastics factory on fire. Been going for hours now. -

Wind's picking up here now. Edit: And some spots of rain. -

I can hear thunder from the storm, but can't see anything yet. Kinda hoping it's development might spread it a bit more northerly towards the city centre. -

I can't photograph that incoming storm SE of Brum, as it's now too large for my viewfinder on my phone. -

Well we didn't get so much as a drop of rain even, but by way of compensation we got this funky effect at sunset.... -

Seen flashes of light from the direction of the Leicester storm, and you can see sheets of precipitation from clouds but they tail off quickly, so I'm assuming evaporation, even fairly high up. -

I was tardy, so this was all I could see, along with Neowise. Still, can hardly complain, probably the only time I'll get to see noctilucents, a comet, several planets, and the moon, all at once in my lifetime!
-
Left it a bit late for noctilucents, but was pleasantly surprised to spot Neowise! I honestly thought I wouldn't get to see it, due to buildings in the way and light pollution. Will try and gets some pics a little earlier, if I'm lucky and the skies remain clear for the foreseeable.

Yep, it's the Google Pixel 3a using the Night Sight function. If it's of any use, the f stop is 1.8 , 4.44 mm, and ISO 304 with about a 40 second exposure. It's all automatic though, the camera's AI does all the heavy lifting.

Just caught the end of the show this morning (distracted by YouTube) but pretty undulations that I think looks kinda like a dragon.

Aww, dammit, I was watching a horror movie, although my northerly view is somewhat blocked by nearby buildings, so I might not have been able to see it anyway. -

Thanks for that. I was hoping someone more knowledgeable would be able to shed some light as to what it was by the time I woke up. I've never heard of an Mesoscale Convective Vortex before. -

Have to wonder what conditions are like underneath it. The spiral seems to have lost energy fairly quickly, but had developed so rapidly growing cells on it's southern arm. -

Well, I have never seen a French import do this before. Is it me, or is it also trying to tap into that storm south of Calais? Mesocyclone? -

And now it's disappating. I really need to remember to bring my small tripod home, and try and do a time lapse.
