  1. I know the feeling! I did um and ah about whether to include my pic, as the cloud cover made it almost impossible to see any detail to absolutely confirm it was NLC, but it was taken over an hour before sunrise- you wouldn't normally see the lightening sky through clouds at that point from my experience. Another thing which might have been an influence was the position of the setting moon, possibly helping to illuminate a larger extent of NLC?
  2. Bright display this morning.......scuppered by cloud! Did anyone manage a clear view?
  3. Beautiful display tonight, never seen them so early before.
  4. Amazing pics and vids posted, thank you! Still thunderless here in Brum this year, but it's enjoyable to get a taste of what's happening down south. Edit to add: That's quite an impressive spread of cloud from that MCS. I've actually been looking outside to see if it's visible from here!
  5. Caught the tail end of these in the wee small hours of Monday too, @Arnie Pie Not sure we'll be so lucky tonight with all the rain clouds!
  6. I was actually looking forward to some more torrential rain (probably the hope of some thunder was in vain!).
  7. Jealous of everyone who had an interesting day, weather wise. Although we've had rain on and off most of the day, it's not actually been that heavy- more like a typical wet Autumn day. Very surprising considering all the forecasts.
  8. Several hours of very heavy rain today from late morning into afternoon. Currently though this is parked to the south west of us, but it's looking increasingly ragged, so dunno if we'll get much from it.
  9. I hope it doesn't get quite as blisteringly hot as it did last summer- I like it warm but not furnace hot! And, of course, I'd love more epic thunderstorms plz
  10. A little anvil over Brum - some great cloudscapes and it's just started to rain. Hopeing we get something as we missed out on the thunder and lightning yesterday. Just had the torrential rain and strong winds, which stripped the blossom from the trees.
  11. Not yet, and probably won't until it falls to around freezing during the evening. Flat is so well insulated we can keep it warm just by cooking dinner! We've even still got the windows open most of the time at the moment.
  12. Have to add my voice too, it's driving me bananas! It's happening on all pages I navigate to (forum/ forecasts) Using Chrome/ Windows 7
  13. You have my sympathies! After two days of working for 8 hours in 32 degree heat in my workshop, I'm not feeling too fab. I think I'd be very ill if I had to endure those sort of temps at home too. One tip I can recommend (from some US chums) is putting a damp towel in the freezer for 10-20 mins. Draped over your neck/ shoulders, it'll really helps, as it cools the blood flow to your brain. It's been absolute bliss after walking 2 miles home.
  14. Spotted the magnificent display over Brum this Friday morning too. Quite something! Sadly my phone camera couldn't capture the beauty anywhere as well as Arnie's did (plus my view was blocked by buildings).
  15. Had a short sharp shower about 10 mins ago. Just seen a flash of lightning and faint rumble of thunder.
  16. It's calmed down in Brum, with some blue sky making an appearance, but can also see towers going up on the south East horizon. Will have to see if it comes our way or skirts more northward.
  17. Wow, just had a huge lightning strike close by! Sounded like a cannon going off and vibrate our building. Set all the car alarms going!
  18. It's going to be interesting to see how much rain gets recorded falling in Brum. Just torrential downpour after another, with the horizon disappearing each time.
  19. I suspect the road out the front of the Mailbox will be flooded, as it's prone to doing that in any heavy rain.
  20. This thunderstorm is not stopping. Constant strobe lightning and the amount of rain is just incredible!
  21. Loving it! Feeling spoilt here in Brum, it's definitely making up for the poor showing last year!
