  1. Pretty much what I'm seeing on the coast. We peaked at 25.5C at lunchtime, but the high cloud has brought the temp back to 24C (although I notice it's starting to rise again now..) Nice breeze though.
  2. High cloud all day and now increasing a little more. Our max has been 25.1 and and breeze has now dropped away. It feels hot, despite what the thermometer might suggest!
  3. Wow. First strong winds, then constant lightning and thunder, and now about 30 mins of torrential rain. Everything but the kitchen sink, it seems.
  4. That north-easterly is really picking up now and becoming quite significant. We've had to shut windows and doors on that side of the house as things were getting blown over...
  5. A max of 27.9C for us, just before lunch. The cloud cover and increasing NE breeze has taken a degree or two off that now, but still quite warm enough, thank you. Some very large spots of rain about an hour ago, but dry again now.
  6. Lovely sea breeze on the coast, keeping us at 24.6C max. Ironically feeling warmer now the breeze has dropped away, although the temp is down to 20.6C.
  7. Yes, this is exactly what we often observe here on the coast near to Worthing. And the same today with clear blue sky to the south, and cloud bubbling up over the Downs.
  8. Perfect day here with virtually unbroken sunshine all day. And the warmest day of the year so far for us, at 23.9C.
  9. The temperature is still increasing here - now the warmest it has been all day at 19.0C. 62% humidity and the wind is picking up.
  10. Can relate to that. Here on the Sussex coast we've had 37mm 1 March-30 April, against an average of 114mm for that period. Caution noted though, for the rest of the year!
  11. Similar experience here - winds picked up significantly around 19.00 through to about 19.45 when they dropped suddenly. Some gusts were almost on a par with Eunice. Fairly rapid temperature drop since - from 10.7C to 7.6C now.
  12. The peak for us has been in the last hour or so. Pressure bottomed out at 992.9mb and is now rising quickly as the centre of the low moves away. Still some very significant gusts. Having blue skies and sunshine somehow makes the whole thing a little easier to deal with - I much prefer this to storms in the early hours of the morning when it's dark everywhere and you can't see what's going on...
  13. Exactly the situation here - little choice as to where to site the weather station (Mrs Stroudley didn't appreciate the idea of having it in the middle of the lawn...) I suspect there is some unavoidable radiated heat from the fence, but even so, the sun felt surprisingly warm today, even though it was so low. Max today: 14.5C! Min last night: -1.7C
  14. I was surprised too at the extremes today - -1.7C the min this morning but 11.8C at just after 13.00. The weather station is in quite a sheltered spot though, that does warm up when the sun's out.
  15. Coldest morning of the winter so far here too. -3.9C just before 08.00. Recovering a bit now - up to 0.8C!
  16. It was pretty lively here for around 15-20 mins with the wind really picking up on the back edge of the squall. Total rain for the day - 7.8mm.
