  1. I couldn't post in the European thread, but here's a view of the storms/rain just by france / sort of sw Uk https://www.webcamtaxi.com/en/france/brittany/place-de-la-liberte-brest.html
  2. Our bedroom is currently at 31.5c, when we reached just short of 40c, our room hit just over 35c. The house is the coolest place to be . Thanks to @Tom Quintavalle's posts about his salads, it made me fancy a chicken salad too. Ours is stuff we can just pull out the fridge, sliced chicken, cheese, cocktail sausages, ham and a simple salad. My hubby is master at doing these and just what the doctor ordered on such a hot day.
  3. Lovely breeze, shame it feels like a blow torch.
  4. Morning all. Awful night here. Bedroom felt like i was sleeping in the shower room with it turned on full wack. Felt so humid and didn't go past 25c. Seems more of the same tonight and hotter today. Already feel too warm at 9am.
  5. while i agree with the summer and fuel bills, I doubt many will want it to be 38+ for a while. just saying.
  6. Thank you Hope you have a better night tonight!
  7. I actually thought once i could smell the smoke it was a BBQ as our neighbours have them all year round. It would be quite easy to dismiss it as one too, and i'm glad people saw and took action. I'm just in it but hoorah *does rain dance*
  8. well blow me, i've got a yellow for thunder on Monday, so guess that won't happen!
  9. I am not glorifying the fire at all, but here's one of the many pics people took : If hating extreme heat could be summed up in one pic i think it could be this.
  10. Thank you It was a big relief. Someone recorded it on a drone and posted it, I don't get that since it got so close to the houses. I'd rather make sure i was safe. But anyway i'm very thankful.
  11. Morning all. Quick update. Thankfully the fire service managed to contain the fire and everyone was ok.
  12. well my worst fear is about to come a reality. We have just over the road a patch of land which was once a golf club has gone up in flames in two different areas so i expect it was arson. Only would take it to reach some trees by the road and my house is next. Oh my ffing god.
  13. I know that one. walk down to pick my daughter from school, be out not even 10 minutes and i have caught the sun. I never used to. The first time I did was on Holiday to tenerife, 15 old years ago and i somehow missed the tops of my shoulders with the sun cream and burnt them. Since then it doesn't take much. My daughter is the same, even with hat and cream, used to come home quite red.
  14. Afternoon all. Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly, i hope you feel better soon 29c here atm so i expect we will reach 30c. So hoping for that stormy breakdown, although it's a few days away. have done my chores for today, house is now hitting 26c and climbing. time for a cuppa.
  15. Certainly hope it goes out with a bang. a big one. However i have been seeing that this won't be the last of the heat as summer will have a last (hopefully!) hoorah of the season later on in August. I can remember just after my daughter was born taking her out for a walk in her pram in september, wearing a jumper and being really surprised that where i was now living it was warm enough to still wear a T-shirt. Needless to say some septembers have been as warm as some Augusts - seasons have certainly changed since i was my then daughters age! I think though we should get past this week before worry. I really hope i am finally treated to some bangs and flashes soon.
  16. wet and cold sounds great at the moment!
  17. Afternoon @Tom Quintavalle So i won't like him much this winter either then. (although i do realise many need a mild winter)
  18. Pete perish the thought! gah. BTW why is that dude in that vid smiling?!?
  19. Day has started well, our washing machine has decided to break down and we are getting it fixed (hopefully) on friday. I'm one of these people who panic about the house being a mess/people coming in so i'm on full speed cleaning/sorting and it's awful in 26c. Not giving me the best of moods either i dare say!
  20. Always have a small bottle handy. love a bit of fizz. And beer. Cans of beer in there too. Although when it's hot i tend to be good and stick to lemonade!
  21. Morning all. Todays Met0 viewing does not read well for us heat haters. Amber heat alert for 4 days, with a little hope of a light rain shower at the end. We were blessed with a nice breeze last night and out room went down to 22c which felt lovely. Still up early to do some things before the heat kicks in. Fingers crossed it isn't as warm as expected.
  22. phew 27c and already I am finding excuses to open the fridge.
  23. morning everyone, well here we go again. Rough night sleep, although the night temps ended up here at 13c, after an hour of having the oven on the house was still 25c. I feel too for all the people that have worrying health issues, as my husband also has breathing issues and can't tolerate the heat. My daughter also seems to get heat exhaustion quite quickly so i know how stressful it can be making sure everyone is comfortable, drinking plenty and cool. At least for my area we wouldn't be seeing 40c again, but days of 30+ is no walk in the park either. Hopefully this will the last blast before things cool down ready for Autumn.
  24. Hopefully not long till the fog index lass. Can't wait for misty Autumn mornings and golden leaves. And some rain. Got reminded on FB how lush we got our grass in our garden one year, now it's yellow. Our gardener phoned us to see if we needed a grass cut and it was ' what grass?!!'
